Surprising, the human invited me to stay for the time being. It felt genuine, and it didn't seem like there was a motive behind her actions. I have to keep my guard up. Her blue eyes gleamed in the moonlight as she walked to me, and I stiffened by her presence. It seems like we will have to learn to trust each other; if I'm going to learn more on where Jacob may be hiding.
"You can stay in my brother's room. He's currently in the military, so he's barely home as it is," Serilda suggested, opening the door beside me. She walked across the hall to another door that was parallel to her room. When she opened the door, I noticed the walls were filled by posters.
"My brother is a geek... he loves games, and especially music," Serilda said, giving a half smile as she turned around casting her eyes upward to see my face. "I'll get you some fresh clothes, and a blanket or two if I can find some." Serilda spoke with a soft tone, but I could feel her sharp eyes on my back when I walked into the room. I couldn't blame her for being suspicious.
I looked around the room seeing different photographs. It almost doesn't feel real... to be out in the world again. I lightly grazed the picture frames with my hand; feeling the zig-zag texture of wood underneath my finger tips.
I picked up the frame to get a closer look. Within the photo appeared to be a group of friends holding up different trophies. Stay away from him... he's a Warkaric. I heard a voice of a distant memory echo in my head. Your kind should have never been born! I put the picture back down on the shelf before another voice could enter my thoughts.
"Here's some of my brother's clothes. I told you he's a geek, but these should work for the time being." I jumped when I heard her voice come into the room. Clearing my throat, I walked over to the fresh set of clothes that were neatly placed on the bed.
The t-shirt was dark grey with white letters saying: Video games give me a life... many lives. I gave a low snort shaking my head in disbelief.
I started to take off my hoodie that was filled with sweat, but the human girl pulled my arms back down before I could.
"Are you insane?!" She whispered in a harsh tone. My ears fell back against my head, and I tilted my head in confusion.
"Just... change your clothes when I'm gone, okay?" Serilda flustered keeping her eyes away from mine. She quickly walked out of the room shutting the door. I noticed a red color rise to her ears, and then went up to her cheeks. My ears twitched forward when she left the room, and I noticed her breathing was quicker than before. The doorknob turned, and she peaked her head in.
"Also... don't ever come in my room without my permission again," Serilda demanded her face flushed red as she shut the door again.
"If you do I'll kill you ten-fold." She threatened through the door, and then I heard soft footsteps go across the hallway. I let out a chuckle when her door locked. Why did you send me here with this crazy woman?
I quickly changed into the new clothes, and I let out a sigh of relief. I can't stay here for long. I reminded myself as I slid under the warm covers.
The bed was soft, and the covers were warm against my shivering skin. It was too soft to be comfortable for me. I got out of bed, and took the blankets with me. Laying on the floor helped me feel more at ease. My eyelids began to close, and I could feel my necklace grow warm. I felt a warm illuminating light spread across my face, but my eyes refused to open.
