~Serilda~
I woke up rubbing my eyes, and looked at my window that was closed. Must've been a weird dream after all. I pulled the covers off my legs, and headed to my mirror. My purple dyed hair was vibrant in the sun's rays, but my blue eyes were red from sleep.
I grabbed my brush that was in my old desk, and begun getting the knots out of my long hair. Smell of my grandmother's cooking filled the air. I put down my brush, and started to walk down the stairs. My stomach growled immensely. The smell of buttery pancakes waved through the air.
"That smells so good-" I paused when I noticed a red haired man sitting at the dining table. He was playing on my phone... or seemed more fascinated by it. I stormed towards him trying to stay unnoticed by my grandmother who was cooking.
"What are you doing here?" I whispered leaning on the table in front of him. His eyes wouldn't move from my phone, and he jumped whenever a notification popped up on the screen. I snatched the phone from him, and he looked up at me. His eyes were no longer red, but a light green color. I noticed his wolf ears were gone as well.
"It's easy to hide my features in front of humans," Alex muttered as he took the phone back from me. "I had... trouble sleeping, and came downstairs to see that your grandmother fell. I helped her off of the floor of course, no need to thank me." Alex continued as he played with my phone. He is a completely different person today. We were interrupted as a plate full of pancakes were placed in front of Alex. His eyes glazed over, and he reminded me of a drooling dog. The pancakes were lightly browned with butter melting on top, and syrup was already on them. I prefer to put the syrup on by myself...
I walked to my grandmother who was cooking in front of her stove, and I tried to think of good explanation for Alex's presence.
"Gamma, I..." I was cut off by my grandmother's hand that waved in the air as she cooked.
"He already explained his situation. Poor boy, had a fight with his parents again. I am disappointed in you for not telling me," My grandmother shook her head in disappointment, and I could feel my heart sink inside my chest.
"You could've told me sooner... that you had such a good looking friend of yours." My grandmother smirked in a low voice. Behind me, I could hear Alex in a coughing fit from choking on his water.
"You say something sweetie?" My grandmother asked over her shoulder. She was looking at Alex who was wiping his mouth across his arm.
"Thank you for the food." Alex replied in a hoarse voice.
"Odd thing getting old... I can hardly hear these days." My grandmother chuckled, and I let out a dry laugh looking at Alex then back to her. Looking at the stove I noticed the time was getting close to seven o' clock.
"Gamma I gotta get ready... I'll be late if I have breakfast, so don't bother cooking for me." I said giving her a kiss on the cheek then running up to my room. Everything I needed for school was already in my bag, so it didn't take long to finish getting ready.
I put on a loose black hoodie that had a simple doodle of a cat on the front. Next, I put on some black leggings, and hopping on one foot to put on my sneakers. Grabbing my bag, I raced downstairs noticing Alex quickly washing off his plate, and then joining me at the door.
"Where are you going?" I questioned Alex who still had his mouthful like a chipmunk.
"Oh! Yes, I helped him register for school. Be careful!" My grandmother chimed walking into another room out of sight.
I glared at Alex, but he gave me a confused look still chewing on food.
"You... do not show your weird wolf stuff got it? We have a lot to talk about when we get back," I demanded walking out the door, "Shut the door on your way out... and you got pancake crumbs on your jaw." I can already tell this is going to an interesting first day of school.
