I shifted around in my bed, but sleep didn't want to greet me. To me sleep was my medicine or maybe it is turning out to be my addiction? When I sleep there's no life problems, no adult decisions on which college to choose, and there is certainly no people. I am only greeted by me, myself, and I. The three best friends someone can ask for.
A cold breeze kissed my cheeks, and I opened my eyes to see my window wide open. A dark shadow loomed in the corner of my room, and the hair on my arms began to rise in unison. It's probably just another giant pile of laundry I have laying around. I sat up quickly, grabbing my phone from my nightstand. With shaking hands, I tried to type in my password, but my butterfingers let my phone slip between my fingertips plunging into the abyss of my covers. My body seemed to slowly freeze in place as I saw the shadow loom forward. I wanted to scream with all the air in my lungs, but my voice wouldn't even let out a whisper.
A massive paw stretched out into a small batch of moonlight illuminating from the window. As the creature stepped forward I could see my pale face being reflected in burning red eyes. The creature had the features of a wolf, but it was clearly larger than the average size.
I had to catch my breath when the creature fully stepped into the light. The wolf-like creature had massive wings that were tucked against its back. They had an enticing light gray color that matched the fur. The feathers held a crimson red color with black tips trailing towards the end. The creature shifted its wings giving a huff-like sound. That's when I noticed the red oval jewel tied around the neck by thin light-brown leather straps.
The jewel seemed to come alive as it started to slowly illuminate the room with it's crimson color. Small waves activated in the jewel as if fireflies danced inside. The light continued to illuminate, and I couldn't turn away from the memorizing jewel.
I blinked my eyes when the light settled... the wolf was gone. What remained of the wolf was a tall young man standing in the middle of my room. His hair was crimson red that reached close to his shoulders, and his eyes held a fiery red color inside them. He had large wolf-like ears on top of his head, and they matched the color of his hair. His white hoodie was torn at the sleeves. The jewel dangled lifelessly around his neck with a dull red color. I noticed his jeans were covered in mud, and his feet were bare against the cold floor.
Snapping out of my trance I frantically reached for my phone that was under my covers. The man paid no attention to me as he turned his attention over his shoulder.
"I won't hurt you... I just need some information on someone." The man whispered as he turned back to my direction. He held out his shaking hands in surrender.
"I've heard that lie more than I'd like to count." I replied, trying to find my phone that slipped under the covers. Soon, my fingers made contact with the phone's bulky case, and I quickly dragged it closer to my waist. It'll be too late for the cops to show up, but I can at least try.
I glanced towards my door while his attention was towards the window. Gripping my phone, I crawled over the bed sprinting towards the door. Halfway towards the door I felt a strong hand grip my arm, and I felt my feet lift off the ground. I attempted to scream, but his hand kept me from shouting. I kicked my legs behind me before I felt the cushion of my mattress underneath me. His hand stayed over my mouth as I gave a scowl still gripping my phone behind my back. I scooted away from him feeling the cold frame behind me before chomping down on the man's hand. He retracted his hand away with a wince of pain muttering under his breath. With this, I pulled my legs towards myself before bucking them at his chest causing him to fall off the bed with a loud thud.
I turned my face towards the door about to make a run for it, but somehow was greeted with his face inches from mine. He pinned down one of my wrists while his other free hand hung loose on the bed frame making me trapped between his arms.
"Please, I just need a moment, and then I'll be out of your way." He begged with wide eyes, and I heard a slight quiver in his voice. Before I could speak, we both turned our heads to the sound of a knock on my door. Well... this is going to be fun to explain.
