~Serilda~
"Your home, Alex?" I asked, but he refused to discuss the incident any further.
"I'll be back in a second okay?" I told Alex, before looking into my bag for some change. I headed outside the cafeteria to give him some space.
Outside of the cafeteria I took a left, and reached a small hallway that stored our vending machines. There were some in the cafeteria, but they only held the tasteless "healthy" snacks.
The snacks looked much better than the school food when I peered into the vending machines. I glanced across the rows, and tried to determine which snack Alex would like best. I'm guessing jerky?
I pushed the blue numbers on the vending machine for my snacks, and the machine beeped when the snacks fell. Grabbing the snacks I stood up to leave, but I was blocked by someone's arm.
"What do you want, Roy?" I questioned when I looked up to see his face. His brown eyes narrowed at me, but I rolled my eyes trying to hide my fear. My heart was racing, but I managed to keep my back straight.
"Why do they call you the freak of high school, huh? They must be blind." Roy questioned intertwining my purple hair around his fingers.
"Your friends must be blind on how much of an idiot you are." I retorted taking my hair away from Roy's hands. His lips turned into a smirk before he let out a low laugh. Pushing his arm away from me I continued forward back to the cafeteria.
I could still hear his laughter echo inside my head as I walked. I was muttering to myself when I walked into the cafeteria, but My legs stopped walking when I noticed my table was crowded.
I spotted mainly the preppy girls surrounding the table, but something felt off as I walked closer.
"Why...are you...hanging around that freak?" One of them questioned as they chewed on their gum. The other students began to chime in as if it was some type of talk show.
"Do you want to know the reason why she's the freak of high school?" Another girl questioned talking into his ear, but Alex was oblivious to them as his green eyes kept their focus on my phone.
I was used to the people of this school talking about me, and I learned to ignore them... but this time felt different.
"You see that, freak, stayed at school the day her father died with no emotion, whatsoever. She didn't even shed a single tear when she found out. Then the funeral comes around, and she comes to school instead of her father's funeral!" The girl exclaimed, sitting next to Alex while she twirled her dark hair between her fingers. The people around her were listening intently at the story.
"She's a psychopath!"
"She probably has dead bodies in her basement!"
"I heard her father came home late at night... he was probably scared to see his own daughter." They continued, laughing at the different scenarios.
"It's more than likely he was at strip clubs late at night-"
"Enough! Don't you dare disrespect Dr. Vaylen in my presence!" Alex's voice roared throughout the cafeteria. His hands slammed down on the table as he stood up. Alex kept his face lowered to the table, but for a split second I saw his eyes flash red momentarily.
Everyone was focused on Alex, but the hair on my arms rose when I felt a lone stare travel up my spine. I turned around to see Roy in the doorframe of the cafeteria. His arms were crossed, and his head was relaxed against the doorframe with a cheeky grin spread across his face.
I looked back towards Alex when his words processed through my mind. Doctor? My father told me he was a lawyer...
