Papers shuffled quickly into folders when the last bell of the day rang throughout the school.
I finished up a few notes, and began to gather my notebooks into my backpack. Afterwards, I reached for my pencil, but I bumped into my desk with my knee. I flinched at the pain, and watched the pencil rolled off the desk.
I blinked once, and Alex's hand was in front of me with my pencil. I thanked him with narrowed eyes, and put away the pencil. Show off.
I zipped up my backpack with a sigh. Then I picked up my backpack feeling the weight of my homework. I let out a sigh, and checked my phone for any messages from my grandmother.
"We need to stop by my locker." I told Alex before pushing my chair in, and reminding him to grab his school supplies. I feel like a babysitter.
I left the classroom taking a left, and heard whispers coming from down the hallway. There was a crowd of people around my locker, and we had to squeeze around the crowd to reach my locker.
Words were spray painted in red across my locker saying: freak, psychopath, sociopath, coward...
I could feel my heart quicken, but I couldn't tell if it was from anger or fear. My hands started to sweat, but then Alex stood in front of me examining the locker.
"What is this?" Alex asked as he leaned forward to sniff the red words, but before he could embarrass me further, I opened the locker. I grabbed my history textbook, and shut the door aggressively. Then I grabbed Alex's arm, and preceded towards the exit. Life must love to laugh in my face.
I pushed the doors open, and stepped quickly down the concrete stairs. The sun greeted my presence, but became shrouded by clouds.
"What's the matter, hun?" A voice spoke behind me. I turned to see Roy puffing on a cigarette before flicking it towards the ground. He used his leather boot to snuff out the flame.
I let go of Alex's arm, and directed my anger towards Roy's grin. I furrowed my brows pointing towards Roy.
"You did this! Didn't you?" I accused Roy who's eyes widened towards my anger. He raised his hands in surrender before putting them in his pockets. Roy leaned back with a smirk, and stared at me without saying anything.
"What? It's true isn't it!"
"I honestly don't know what you're angry about, but... you look cute when you get all worked up." Roy's head tilted to the side as his messy hair waved in the wind.
I stared in shock being caught off guard from his words. Roy's grin widened at my expression, but I reached for my anger boiling under my skin. I dropped my arm, and balled my hands into a fist. I moved towards Roy's direction, but felt a hand wrap around my arm.
Roy's grin slowly faded away, and his eyes turned cold to the man standing beside me. My stubbornness refused to stay a prisoner in Alex's hand. I yanked my arm free from Alex, and turned to face Roy.
Before I could step forward I felt Alex's arm wrap around my waist, and he placed me across his shoulder. Seems he is quite stubborn as well...
