"And Charlie, don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he ever wished for."
Jon awoke to find himself in bed, with Loxy. He gripped the bed, fearful he might travel again. The scent of pine was strong. He blinked. The tree was decorated. It like waking up to Christmas. He got up and walked over to the tree, unconcerned that he might through the opening that accommodated the tree through all the floors to the ground. The whole tree was decorated.
Loxy was up, slightly behind him.
"Isn't it lovely?" Loxy asked.
Jon turned to her. She was wearing an oversized, red t-shirt, and candy cane socks. He tackled her with a serious hug, that took them both back to the bed, with him on top, kissing her, and she was laughing. Jon stopped.
"Missed me while you were looking for yourself out there?" Loxy asked.
"Oh, I don't want that as my theme song," Jon said.
"Don't worry, it's not," Loxy said.
"Am I here, like for real?" Jon asked.
Loxy's eyes searched for answer, playfully. "Feels like it," she said, wiggling and adjusting her hip. She bit her lower lip. "Definitely," she said, pleasantly strained.
"You know, I was following something serious and this is kind of..."
"Yeah, I know," Loxy said. "We'll do serious later. Catch up, first."
"I love you," Jon said.
"I know," Loxy said.
The sun broke over the horizon and was up high enough to sparkle the outside frost and glittering of snow on the side of the glass cylinder that contained Loxy' tree home before they finished their first round. They showered together, dressed, and then went for breakfast. His companions were all there, excited to hear about his latest travels, and he told them about the world where America had lost the final war, and the entirety of North America had become a Hollywood theme park, where every major city in the world, from past to present, was represented, and tourist could visit any time any place and were likely to be extras in whatever film or television series was being filmed at the time they were visiting the city. He told him about the show he was in and that it went for more seasons than he could remember, but only because the fans that liked it started doing their own episodes and uploading them to youtube, making it difficult to sort which was his and what was fans in the present moment. Fan work can be quite good. Fans had Loxy running through the death star, the robot from Lost in Space trying to keep up, waving its arms frantically. The little box droid that runs from Chew Baca, stops, then chases the robot, who flees, with Loxy riding on him. They see the Jupiter Two in the hangar bay below and Loxy asks, 'you came in that thing?' Jon saying, "ha ha." He told them about the Bangles doing a tribute to Loxy by performing Joan Jet's version of 'Love Is All Around,' and Ali montage with her all over the world, and finally jumps up, throwing her beret up into the air with the Eiffel tower in the back ground, and she's frozen in time, and fake Fersia going 'meow' at the close of the music.
"You always get the easy, fun assignments," Lester lamented.
"He's a freshman," Keera said. "You start with the easy stuff."
"You call that easy? I am not even sure I finished what I started, because I never knew what I was supposed to start," Jon said.
"You couldn't be back if you didn't finish," Loxy said.
