It was getting dark out and people were starting to trickle into the large pack house. Everyone seemed to stare or give me the side eye of judgement as I talked with Raven.
Sadly as I smelt the sweet aroma of BBQ Raven led me up this steep staircase to the guest rooms.
Apparently most of the pack members would just go to there houses in the Southside at night to sleep or have dinner with their families.
But there was a large group of young adults who weren't born into the pack and had no where to stay. When a wolf has no where to go they can crash in a guest room.
The only people who sleep in the house permanently is the Alpha and their family. And the pack doctor and their family. And they all slept on the first floor.
As we came to a landing Raven lead me down a narrow hall on the right and two doors down on the left she pushed it open and we both walked in.
"Wow this is... Different."
I sighed looking around the beautiful room. It had this gorgeous ocean vibe with off white walls and blue bedroom decorations. The carpet was tan but has different shades of tan flecked throughout it making it almost resemble sand.
"Every room has a different theme to them. When all the rooms were made the first person to live in them got to decorate them."
Raven said happily as she laid two duffle bags on my queen size bed. I smiled at her as I continued to explore around the large room a bit.
"This room is awesome. Can I claim it as my own for now?"
"Of course! It should be quite as no one is really using these guest rooms near you."
A smile spreads across my freckled face as I look at some yoga mats rolled up in the corner of the room. I turn back to her to see Raven unpacking my stuff for me and putting it in some dresser.
"Hey I can unpack myself! I smelt BBQ earlier. You should go eat."
I said as I gently shoved her away from the bags. She laughed and pushed back but she didn't fight me much.
"You should come down and eat with me. Everyone needs to meet you."
My smile exchanges for a frown as I put away some cute shorts. I shake my head slowly as I continue putting clothes away.
"No, I don't think anyone wants to talk to me right now. But I appreciate the offer."
"Ugh, fine. But I'm coming right back up so we can talk. I'm sure Arthur didn't fill you in on everything like mates and male wolves."
Raven smirks and with a naughty looking wink she is gone getting herself some food while I stand here and unpack all this clothes that I CLEARLY didn't buy. Because honestly none of this was really my style.
As the night grew on Raven was kind enough to sit with me. She of course brought up some awesome pulled pork and salad for me, which I devoured in a swear two minutes.
"I'm still hungry..."
I mumble as I lay next to Raven on my bed as I scroll through memes on my phone. Sometimes I would let out a soft chuckle but I was feeling bored tonight.
"Well if your now synced with your inner wolf you share a lot of traits now. And increased hunger is a side affect of having a young wolf inside of you."
My stomach growls and I shoot a glare at Raven, I wanted to eat like ten more pulled pork sandwiches.
"And you can't eat like a wolf until you actually shift. If you eat like a pig now you'll just gain weight and become fat."
A huff escapes my lips as I look back at my phone. Food sounded awesome right now but extra pounds didn't sound so awesome.
"Fat can look pretty though."
I mumble out as Raven looks down at me, I can feel her glaring at me and I didn't bother actually looking at her.
"Well fat ain't gonna look pretty on you. Besides don't you wanna be attractive for your mate?"
"What is this mate thing? You keep talking about it like I know all about it!"
I yell out ending it with a frustrated huff, I didn't like being kept it the dark. I just wanted to know everything I need to know about werewolves at this exact moment!
Is it that hard for people to explain everything I need to know?Raven giggles and rolls her eyes, she sits up on the bed and I do the same. But I'm not giggling, instead I'm glaring with my jaw clenched tight.
She ignores my obvious anger and starts blabbing about mates, males, and reproducing. Which I didn't need to know about that last part.
"So every wolf has a mate, we don't know who until we physically touch another for the first time. You can be drawn to others through basic eye contact but the initial spark will either grow or burn out after contact."
I nod slowly as I process that first little bit, just as I open my mouth the ask another question I get cut off.
"Now once you find your mate you become their responsibility, usually a female has a male mate and he is solely in charge of protecting, providing, and loving you.
And our responsibility as females is to respect him, nurture him, protect him, and love him. Even when they act stupid."I was intrigued by this as this made mates sound much better, instead of it being some arranged marriage it was a partnership between two compatible people.
"You and Ajax... you guys are mates then?"
" Yeah, he is my other half. When you meet your mate your entire aspect changes. Your biggest fear isn't bad breath or unshaven legs, it's losing him. Losing your mate through death, betrayal, is enough to cause yourself death.
I nod and glanced down at my lap, Raven was able to show me how important this whole thing was. This was the most serious I had seen her in a while.
"And once you find your mate there is the aspect of reproduction, I'm not going into detail just warning you.
When you change into full wolf form your wolf will experience their first heat cycle. It is very painful in wolf form so it's recommended to stay on two legs during this period.
Also try to not sleep with anyone but your mate. It's just a big no no.""Okay I got it, I think I know enough now. My head is starting to hurt."
I chuckle half hearted as I lay back down and run my fingers through my hair, I glanced over as Raven stood up and headed for the door.
"Hey, thanks for everything. Really."
I say with a small smile, I owed her so much for the help she had given me and I knew I could never repay the amount of patience and kindness she had shown me.
" Your welcome, I'm heading home with Ajax. I'll see you tomorrow. "
With that she was gone, I soon fell asleep comfortably, although it was weird because for the first time in a long time I needed no oxygen tubes for bed and I actually felt like a normal teen. Minus the fact I can soon turn into a giant hairy dog.
(Sorry this is a boring chapter, next one will be better!)
