During the Japanese colonial era, roughly 400 Korean people, who were forced onto Battleship Island to mine for coal, attempt to escape.
Lee Kang-Ok (Hwang Jung Min) is a bandmaster at Kyungsung Hotel. He decides to go to Japan to protect his daughter, but he is drafted into Battleship Island by force, being deceived by talk to send him to Japan. On Battleship Island, he does anything to protect his daughter.
Choi Chil-Sung (So Ji Sub) is the top fighter in Kyungsung (old name of "Seoul"). He makes troubles on Battleship Island, but he has a warm heart.
Park Moo-Young (Song Joong KI) belongs to the Korean Independence group. He sneaks onto Battleship Island to rescue a member of the independence group.

The cinematography is a big thumbs up. The characters. The storyline. The love story. The fight scenes. Ramdam mo eh yung paghihirap nila, how they were forced to do all the works. Naipakita talaga sa movie na ito kung ano ba nangyari noon kahit fictional lang yung story. Still, you can see a glimpse of the past. Mapababae o bata, ginagawang laruan. That was so scary to watch, how Japanese back then treat women.
Ang ganda ng character ni So Ji Sub, lalo ko syang in-admire sa movie na ito. Ang linis ng galaw nya sa mga bakbakan. Pero despite sa pagiging astigin nya napakita pa din dito yung romantic side nya kahit konti. Sobrang iniyakan ko yung ending dahil sa pagmamahalan ni So Ji Sub at Lee Jung Hyun.
Song Joong Ki, my baby. Gwapo pa din kahit ang dungis. Astig nya dito, kahit ang dami na nyang tama ng baril buhay pa din sya. T__T. May sa- pusa si Song Joong KI dito, e charot. Bale, halos lahat sila parang siyam ang buhay kasi kahit anong gawin sa kanila, they are still kicking.
Su-an never fails to mame me cry. That baby girl! On point ang acting, e. Ang ganda ng tandem nila ni Sir Hwang Jung Min as father and daughter. Ramdam mo yung kagustuhan ng tatay na maligtas yung anak kahit anong mangyari. Tapos ramdam mo rin yung pagmamahal ng anak sa tatay nya.
This story did not just told us what happened back the. It also taught us how to be strong despite any challenges that willl come to your way. It taught us how to love unconditionally---- love for the people around you and love for the country, being a patriot. And I think that's what really matters. Iniyakan ko to, guys. : )
