Mina sat alone in the cafeteria, quietly finishing her lunch. Jane's familiar voice cut through the air, "So, you're really strong, huh?" Mina sighed without looking at her. "Jane, what is it this time?" she asked. Jane, annoyed, said, "You're supposed to be dropping out of this school."
"I'm not that weak," Mina retorted, finally meeting Jane's eyes. "So, are you prepared for the worst?" Jane smirked at her. Before Mina could respond, Jared interrupted, sitting beside her. "Hey baby, why did you leave without me?" he said, glancing at Jane. Red's cold voice cut in, "You... leave."
"What?" Jane was defiant. "Are you deaf? I know what you did. I'm not letting you do it again. I won't leave her side again. Now, leave," Red glared at her. "Jared, I—" Red interrupted her, "Shut up and leave. NOW!" His loud voice startled those around them. "We are not done here, Mina," Jane said before leaving.
"Thanks again, Red, but I can protect myself," Mina said. "I know, but I just want to piss her off," Jared grinned, continuing to eat his lunch. "Was that 'baby' thing necessary?" Mina asked. "Yeah, it adds to the annoyance," he replied while munching on his burger.
After lunch, they headed back to their room.
------Time Skip------
After dismissal, Mina told Red she needed to put her things in her locker. "I'll come with you," Jared said, hastily packing his bag. "You don't have to," Mina said, waving her hand. "I won't take no for an answer. Let's go," Jared insisted, practically dragging her down the hallway.
After putting her things in her locker, Mina wondered why Red was being so clingy today. "Are you done now?" Red approached her. "Yeah," he held Mina's hand, and they walked towards the school gates.
They passed by the Amigas, and before they could go far, Red turned to face them. "I told you once before, but I'm telling you this again. Leave my GIRL alone, or else," he said sternly, dragging Mina into a nearby coffee shop.
Inside the coffee shop, silence prevailed. Eventually, Mina broke the quiet. "Mind telling me what's going on, Red?" she asked. "I'm protecting you," Red said. "I can protect myself, Red," Mina rebutted. "I know, but I want to do it for you," he said, taking a sip of his coffee. "Why? You don't need to," she said, looking down at her lap.
"I have to. I need to, and I want to protect you. I won't let them do it again, not this time," he declared, placing his hand on Mina's. "I won't let them hurt you again. I promise."
Mina pulled her hands away. "You don't need to. I'm a nobody, a nerd, a loser," she told him. "No, you're not!" Red insisted, holding her hands again. "But I am, Red. I'm—" Red placed a finger on her lips. "No, please don't say that. You are someone to me," he said, removing his finger.
"You're special, you're kind, you're pretty. Did you know? Your smile is brighter than the sun above?" Red brought her hands closer. "And you know what? You are the person who makes my heart waver."
"You know what else, Gianne? I think... no, I do like you," Red looked deep into Mina's eyes. "No..." Mina protested. "What?" Jared asked, confused. "You shouldn't, Red! You can't!" Mina stood up and ran away from Red.
"I guess she doesn't feel the same," Red said, tears starting to fall.
