~Red's POV
I found her there, lying on the cold floor. It felt like someone had punched the air out of my chest. She really is a clueless potato. "Gianne!" I ran over and scooped her into my arms. "Hey! Wake up!" I called out to her. "They di-di..." Tears welled up in her eyes. "Shhh... It's okay, I'm here now," I comforted her.
Lifting her up in a bridal style, I noticed she was surprisingly light, considering her healthy appetite. "Should I take you home, Gianne?" I offered. "No, my sister will freak out." Obviously, her sister would freak out – Gianne was covered in bruises.
I regretted suggesting the hospital. "Alright, I'll just take you somewhere safe," I assured her. "No, don't. I'm scared of hospitals," she admitted with a trembling voice. I had to take her somewhere, but where? I decided to bring her back to my dorm.
Climbing the school gates while carrying her was a bit of a struggle. Hailing a taxi, I gave the driver my dorm's address. "What happened to this young lady?" the driver asked. "I have no idea," I replied, glancing at her sleeping on my shoulders.
"Looks like your girlfriend is really comfortable with you," the driver observed. She's not my—never mind. I sighed, still lost in my thoughts, pondering what might have happened to her.
Guilt gnawed at me. If I'd been there, I could have prevented this. She shouldn't have gotten hurt like this. I could have done something. This shouldn't have happened to her.
Thoughts of the suspects flooded my mind. I knew they were behind this, doing it again, ruining everything, just like they did before. They changed her. My first love.
A few moments later, we arrived at my dorm. Carrying her in my arms, I knocked on the door, and it immediately swung open.
A wide-eyed Zed assisted me in laying her on the couch. "What happened?" he asked. "Found her in school. Lying on the floor, covered in bruises," I explained. "They are doing it again, Zed. She might leave me like..." I couldn't finish my sentence. "I know," he patted my back. "I'm not letting them do this again, not this time. I'll protect her," I declared.
Checking with Zed where the others were, he said they were already asleep. "Then why are you still awake?" I asked. "River told me to wait for you," he replied. After instructing him to get our first aid kit, he obliged. Surprisingly, he didn't question it, perhaps because he had a good meal.
Applying ointment to Gianne's wounds, she remained in a deep sleep. "Why did they do this to you? You don't deserve this," I murmured as I tended to her injuries. Maybe I should keep a close eye on this girl.
