Chapter 22

Mina gets dragged into a dimly lit concert hall, still caught up in her thoughts. Suddenly, the lights go out, jolting her back to reality. "Why am I here?" she mutters to herself. Then, a spotlight illuminates the middle of the stage, and Jared's voice breaks through, "Gianne, please just listen. I didn't do it, babe. I swear, Gianne, I didn't kiss her. I love you; I won't cheat on you. Please stay with me." The band kicks in with 'Stay by Cueshe.'

Jared throws himself into the song, pouring out every emotion and feeling he has. His sincerity reaches Gianne, who can feel the depth of his emotions. After the performance, he bounds down, rushing towards her. He lifts Mina up, spins her around, gently places her back on the ground, and pulls her into a tight embrace. "I'm so sorry, babe. I love you and only you," Red says, cupping her cheeks and brushing away the tears streaming down her face. "But she said-" Red interrupts, "Don't believe her. I love you, babe." He leans in, and their noses touch, but suddenly...

"Ehem... We're still here, you know?" Zed interrupts. The two break apart, and Zed earns a smack on the head from River. "Ow! What was that for?" Zed rubs the back of his head. "You've ruined the moment, stupid," River scolds the youngest. "Sorry about that. We're leaving, so continue what you were doing, lovebirds. Bye!" Lucky teases. River drags Zed out, Zed whines, but River smacks him again until they vanish from sight. Mina and Red are left dumbfounded.

"So, babe, where were we?" Red smirks at her. "Hey, not so fast. I haven't forgiven you just yet," Mina teases. "Oh man, you ruined the moment again," he pouts. "Okay, cutie pie. Just because you're cute, I'll forgive you," Mina says.

"Did you just call me cutie pie?" Red says with a smirk. "Nope. I didn't say anything like that," she continues teasing him. "Call me that again, please?" he pleads with puppy-dog eyes.

"No, and you can't make me," Mina says. "Oh, come on, babe, just this once, please?" he whines. "Okay, stop that; it doesn't suit you," she says in a serious tone. "You're so mean, babe," he fakes his heart being hurt. "I-I'm sorry, cutie pie," Mina mumbles. Red hears that and holds her cheeks.

"We've come so far, don't we, babe?" Red asks Mina. "Yeah," she looks down at her feet. "You know, babe? I think I love you from the first time I laid my eyes on you," Red says, smiling sweetly. "Why me? Why did you choose me?" she asks him.

"It's because you're different. Everyone wants to be with me because I'm famous and rich. But you, you are different. You never want anything from me. You're so kind. I saw you. You are pretty. You're so special to me. I love you, babe," he smiles as tears fall from their eyes.

They wipe each other's tears. "We cried so much, baby. I was so lucky to have you, Jared Lance Tuazon. You saved me from my bullies. You let me experience things I'll never do. You protected me from everything that could harm me. You know I'm sassy; it sometimes gets me in trouble. But you are there to protect me. You are my knight in shining rock star," Mina says, making Red's heart swell from the words Gianne said.

He snaps out of his thoughts and asks, "Isn't that supposed to be knight in shining armor?" Mina smiles at him. "You're a Rock Star, right?" she says while giggling. Then Red realizes what Gianne meant. "Oh, so you're sweet after all, babe," he compliments her, and she blushes.

"Now, babe, can I continue?" Red asks. Surprisingly, Mina gets what Red is talking about. Red leans in, their noses touch, and they close their eyes. Mina feels Red's breath on her lips until she experiences her first kiss with the one she loves.
