Chapter Thirteen

Chapter Thirteen:

"Wait...so exactly where are you?" Aiden asked, looking at me confusedly. 

"Ugh, you're such an imbecile. I told you, I'm at a boarding school in Boston, for the last fucking time. And I don't know why you don't get that in your head, you've been here before! You visited me, remember?" I said, rolling my eyes at him. 

His face became a blur of pixels, and we lost connection for a moment. "...stupid! I mean, right now!" he pronounced. 

"Oh! I'm on the roof of the Health Sciences Tower." I clarified, smiling sheepishly. He laughed and made a r*pe face in return. 

"So I guess you aren't coming home for a while. You could always stay at my house, you know. My 'rents love you more than they love me." he said, smiling sadly.

"Of course they love me more. Who would ever love you?" I teased, trying to lighten up the situation.

"You, la duh." he joked, snapping his fingers in a lame imitation of a sassy girl. I laughed for way too long, not because it was funny, but because I needed to assure him that I wasn't depressed. Even though I was. But he didn't need to know that. 

"But seriously... you can stay at my house." he said, mock-frowning at him.

"Nah. I can't risk running in to them." I hissed, 'them' being my family. We  intensely stared at each other through the cameras of our iPhones' for a few moments.

"Hi." A familiar male voice said, scaring the shit out of me. I jumped, whipping my neck to the right, just to stare at the dude. It was Kevin, of course. He's so nosy sometimes. 

"Hey. What are you doing up here?" I asked.

"Looking for you. What are you doing here?" he retorted.

"Talking to a friend. The internet connection is strongest over here." I said, laughing tensely.

Aiden must have grasped the concept that it was a guy, because he suddenly started to make moaning noises. 

"I miss you so much, babe. All the time we spent together isn't enough for me. Even those seven extra-special hours in the bathtub feel like just a few minutes. Remember? Oh, that was so much fun. And you looked so sexy in that skimpy biki----" he continued reciting, until I snapped to my senses and quickly ended our FaceTime call.

I shoved my phone in my pocket, feeling litres of blood rush up to my face.

Oh God, I'm going to kill Aiden! You are a dead man, Mr.Cavanaugh...

"So...seven hours, huh?" Kevin said, awkwardly trying to break the metaphorical ice.

"Nice conversation starter." I said, dryly. "And no. No hours at all. He was only joking. We're just friends, hahahaha..." I trailed off, watching as he gnawed on his lip anxiously.

"Are you okay?" I inquired tentatively.

"Uhhh...yeah. Okay, here's the deal. Since you were so nice and helpful by not suing my twin sisters, my mom wants you to stay with us for Winter Break. And you can't pass up on the offer, because I know you're just staying here. So please, just come. You have no idea how guilty my mom feels about you. It's killing her. And she feels like if you stay at our place for the holiday, the slate will be wiped clean. So please, just come. You might end up having fun." he finally finished delivering his long-ass speech. 

 "Okay." I replied, surprising myself. 

"Really?" he asked, looking slightly shocked.

"No." I retorted.

"Oh." he murmured softly.

"I'm just kidding. I'm coming...if that's okay?" I said, insecurely. 

 "Uh yeah. Of course." he said, brightening up a whole lot.

"Okay. So...I'll see you later." 

"I guess so." he said, popping his lips.

"Bye, then." I said, smiling at our awkward behavior. I quickly walked away, jokingly bumping his shoulder as I passed him. 

"We're leaving tomorrow morning!" I heard him shout as I reached the bottom of the staircase.

And I just couldn't help but smile a little. But then I wiped it off, and sauntered away, back to safer emotions by which my feelings could never, ever, be hurt again.

A/N: Lalalalalalaaaaaaaaa! Woah...filler chapter! I liked writing it, though. That was fun. Soooo...I might not update next Tuesday cuz I've got exams. Sorry, but then I have summer! WOO! K. Well. Bye. Love you guys.
