The next morning I woke up really early. Like around 8 o'clock. I don't even know why I was awake that early but I couldn't go back to sleep and I was extremely hungry. So I walked downstairs and searched the kitchen for food. I'm such a picky eater so it's hard to find something I like. When I spotted a strawberry yogurt in the bottom of the fridge I quickly grabbed it and ate it down in literally about two seconds. I sat there for a minute, determining whether I should stay downstairs and watch tv, or try to go back to bed. After thinking long and hard I realised that my parents were still asleep. And that means there was no fighting going on. The house was dead silent like it was last night. I decided to take advantage of that and stay downstairs to watch tv. But only until they come rambling out of their room fighting over how much space they had to sleep last night or something rediculous like that.
I ran upstairs quickly, but quietly, to grab my phone. When I came back downstairs I turned it on. It was on the off mode while I charged it last night. I sat it down next to me and turned on the tv. Of course there was nothing on. It was 8 in the morning. All of a sudden I felt my phone buzz once, twice, three times, four times. It kept buzzing until it said '27 missed calls and 2 voicemails'. I figured it was Leah asking me where Ashley was and Ashley asking me where her car was. I laughed and checked my call log. It was an unknown number. All of the calls. 27 calls from this unknown number. They had been trying to reach me since 7 o'clock this morning. I called the voicemail and the first one confused me quite a bit.
"Hello, um, it's your uncle. SImon Cowell. First I'd like to say I'm so sorry about your loss. But, one good thing comes out of it I suppose. You get to come live in England with me! Pack your bags and I will mail your air line tickets to you. They should be there by tomorrow. Your flight is in two days. Again, I'm so sorry."
"What kind of sick joke is this?" I thought to myself as I listened to the second voicemail.
"Oh and love, I have a surprise for you when you get to England. I think you'll love it! But I need you to call me back as soon as possible. I need to make sure you're not dead too. Aha, oh no that was a bad joke. Sorry..."
Then it all hit me. The house has been dead silent for almost 10 hours. That's not normal. I went into the kitchen one more time and checked on the fridge. My parents always leave notes when they go somewhere. Sure enough there was one that said:
Going to the grocery store. If we're not back by the time you get home from wherever you are, just go to bed. We'll see you in the morning. Love you!
"This can't be happening," I said as I ran back into the living room, tears streaming down my face. I grabbed my phone and dialed Simon's number, then walked into my parents room. They weren't in there. "Hello?" Simon answered. "Hello?" My voice was shaky. "Darling, I'm so glad you finally called. I'm so sorry about your lo-" "Who are you and where are my parents?" I cut him off. "Taylor, your parents died in a car crash last night. The police decided to call me, because I'm in your parents will. I'm supposed to take care of you if anything happens to them." And at that very moment my world came crashing down. I had to drop everything and move to England. With my uncle who I don't even know. Wait... "Simon Cowell? Like THE Simon Cowell?!" I asked him. "Yes, I'm Simon Cowell and I'm your uncle. And you're moving to England to live with me."
