The morning was going along pretty well.
I never knew a pack would be like a huge family. A family with many talents, one of them being cooking! I guess it makes sense though because these wolves could eat more than I could even think about stuffing in my mouth. I finally knew how Damon could eat as much as he did. To my surprise, his friends were here; the ones I liked.
Mason had told me that he would let me help with the vampires but he gave me a few rules that I would surely break.
"You are to never leave my side. Stay behind me at all times. If something approaches you, just try to let me handle it. Don't tell anyone what you are. If you feel threatened, find a pack member to take you home. If-"
"Mason! I'll be fine. I want to be treated like everyone else. Just let me train like you guys and we'll talk about your stupid rules later." I reasoned.
He sighed and grabbed onto my blanket covered leg. He wanted reassurance. It was as if he was checking to make sure I was still there. I was safe.
He got up and gave me a kiss on my head. I smiled and loved how he would stay there, his lips pressed against me.
"Shower and come down and in the back. We're starting early today."
I showered and I made it quick. I knew Mason wouldn't hesitate to start off without me. He might give me a chance though. I will just have to surprise him with my time.
When I walked outside, I was amazed. Half of the pack was already training. Some were fighting, some were running drills and some were listening intently on what someone else was saying.
I found Damon, well a wolf form of him. I just knew it was him for some reason. It was like I knew who my whole pack was. I could separate the females from the males and even put a name on a few. I guess that comes with being a Luna.
Manny was in the corner, rough-housing with the other boys. I watched him for a moment, a smile printed on my face. He looked so much older. In a way, he looked like my father. But, I knew he had a heart of gold and a laugh so wonderful it brings me to tears.
I turned my attention to my mate. He was watching as two of his pack members fought. That sounded weird. But they were going hard, putting in a lot of effort as if it was life or death.
I studied them. I knew I would have a slight chance against some of them. I should, I'm the slayer. I'm supposed to kill creatures like them!
I saw another group start fighting, out of their wolf forms. The two guys were fighting fast and I had to stare to keep up.
"Alright, go get water. Stay hydrated. Then take a run around perimeter." Mason said before walking over to me.
He sighed and wrapped his arms around me, kissing the top of my head. He was tense until he was touching me.
"I won't let anything happen to you. I promise," Mason said more to himself. I knew this already.
I wouldn't let myself do anything stupid. I couldn't slip up. I wasn't worried about me. I cared more about my siblings, my pack, and my mate. I wouldn't let them get hurt. I could only imagine what Mason would do if he knew something happened to me. I couldn't live with myself if any of them, these people I love, got hurt because of me. They've already sacrificed enough. I would not put them through any more drama, confusion, or pain.
"I know you won't. I'll be fine. You'll be fine," I pulled back and took his hand in mine. "Come on, run with me around the perimeter, or wherever you told them to go. I want to train too."
I trained with them. I think I surprised them. I surprised myself. I didn't know I could take down a wolf.
At first it was just a younger woman then some pack members wanted to test what I was made of. I took down a few bigger wolves and accidentally gave Mason's cousin a black eye. I apologized several times but everyone shook it off as if it was no big deal.
"Hey! If Luna could take down Craig," Mason's cousin, "I think she could handle the Beta! Or better, the Alpha!"
I pondered that thought. Could I take down Eric? Or Mason? What happened if during this war or whatever was going on, I had to fight an Alpha or Beta. Would I be able to hold my own?
"No. Your Luna WILL NOT be fighting either one of us and that's final. If I hear or see anyone else try to spar with my mate, there will be consequences. Understood?" Mason stated.
"Yes, Alpha,"
Ever since I start training with the pack, Mason's been edgy. I do feel a bit guilty for causing him stress but I also feel it's necessary for him to get used to me doing these sort of things.
These sort of things...
I should be patrolling tonight. Maybe, if I could get the vampire population down, there would be nothing to worry about. My pack wouldn't have to train or get hurt. There would be nothing for them to fight because I could handle it all...
Ammon. If he knew where I was, he'd be livid. He probably is considering I haven't contacted him or patrolled in days.
Anxiety filled me and I got nervous. I got up from my spot in the grass and rushed into the house. I was sure I left everyone baffled.
When I made it to the bathroom, I released all of the good food I had eaten this morning. Puking my guts out didn't really help my nerves either. I just got more nervous and more things came out. The more I thought, the more I puked. The more I puked, the more I thought. It was a never-ending process. A gross process.
"Cassadee?"
His voice came through the door and his hand slipped on my back. It took some of the nerves away but I couldn't shake the feeling.
I heard him swallow hard. He just continued to rub circles on my back. He didn't say anything and I didn't expect him to. I wasn't even sure if I wanted him here. I was just kind of going with the flow until I felt my eyes get heavy.
Mason picked me up but didn't say a word. I curled into him and just let him take me to his room and under his blankets.
With me in his arms, the nerves weren't that bad. Instead, he eased them away and they were only a mere thought, a nagging thought, in my mind. He was like my own little stress reliever.
I knew for sure now, he's something I can't live without.
I didn't question when Mason put me down under the blankets, handed me the pillows, and laid on top of the blankets. He just laid really close and I current;y wasn't capable of looking up and into his face. Even if I wanted to, he was too close and I wouldn't see anything.
He reached out and caressed me and I fel more comfortable.
Cassadee, just enjoy the moment. You don't know when it's going to end. I told myself things like this.
So, I did. I closed me eyes and fell into a peaceful slumber with my wonderful mate by my side.
