Chapter Two
Today is the day we go back to Lochwood Academy. The day I’ve been looking forward to since summer break started. At least I think I have.

The woman was back, sitting across the street from the house, with a camera in hand. Perfect shots, she thought. We must have the wrong girl; no spy would ever be this careless. She listened in to the bug planted earlier in the girl’s room.

“Wake up, it’s a beautiful morning. Honey, while the sun is still shining, wake up, would you like to go with me? Honey, take a run down to the beach.” My alarm starts playing. “Is it really already morning?” I ask, getting out of bed yawning.
“Yes, unfortunately it is.” Abbie replies. “Can I pick out your outfit for today? Please?” she begs.
“Sure. Just make sure it’s something comfortable yet ‘school appropriate’.” I reply.
“Okay!” Abbie says as runs into my closet. She comes back a couple minutes later after I’m done with my shower. “I found the perfect outfits for both of us. We are going to be the best-dressed people at the New Year orientation! Here is yours. Your favorite high-waist shorts paired with a teal tribal shirt, brown fringe vest and your favorite cowboy boots. And don’t forget to wear your sunglasses and class ring. ” Abbie says in a funny announcers’ voice. “And for me, we have an off-white shirt with yellow stripes, black shorts and a jean jacket. Then, we have black toms and a yellow head scarf.” she laughs and spins around. “Do you like?”
“Yes!” I laugh.
“Girls!” Mrs. Martin yells upstairs, “We need to leave in fifteen minutes if you want to catch your plane! Fifteen minutes!”
“Okay!” we yell back.
“I can’t believe we are going to back to school today.” I say excitedly. “Getting accepted was the zenith of my life. I can’t wait to see everyone.”
“Nice use of last year’s vocab word.” Abbie sticks her tongue out at me, “I’m glad we finished packing and put everything in the car last night.”
“Me too. I’m going to miss my car!”
“Okay, weirdo! It’s just a car.” She laughs.
“Well, to me it’s my baby!” I say, “Seriously do you know how long it took me to find and restore it to running condition?”
“Years upon years, I know.”
“Exactly! That’s why I’m going to miss it!” I say jokingly. “I still have a weird feeling… that someone is watching me or something is going happen.”
“Ha-Ha. Very funny.” Abbie laughs. “I’m sure it’s just back to school nerves. I hope we don’t have a pop quiz to see how much we remember, that would be horrible! I don’t remember anything we’ve learned!”
“Abbie, don’t worry. They only do that to the upperclassmen!”
“Kay, we are the upperclassmen! Which means we are most likely going to have a pop quiz.”
“Girls! Two minutes until we leave! Get downstairs now!” Mrs. Martin shouts.
“Okay!” we shout back.
