Chapter 4
It’s been almost two weeks since school started. Everything is back to the swing of the school year; wake up early, get ready, have breakfast, go to class, have lunch, go to class, go to dinner, train, do homework, hang out with friends, go to bed, and start all over again the next day. Every day was the same, it was quite boring. Surprisingly there has been no drama. No surprise missions or tests, nothing. FO Training has been going well, we’ve gone on practice missions into town that is twenty minutes from school. (We don’t start the ‘real’ missions ‘til 2nd semester) I have to say, not to brag or anything that I am doing pretty darn good for a twelveth year. I’m better than 3/4ths of the class! Ha-ha. I was eating lunch with all my friends and my name suddenly was being said over the emergency paging system (EPS).
“Kaylia Ann Bellwood, please report immediately to the headmaster’s parlor. Kaylia Ann Bellwood report immediately to the headmaster’s parlor.”
“WHAT? I… what… ohmygod… why… the fake rat prank wasn’t me…” I stuttered.
“Kaylia, just go! It’s probably just a message from your dad or something. If it were something bad you would have been contacted privately.” Abbie said reasonably.
“What? Oh. Right. Got it. It’s probably just a message from my dad.” I say, still nervous and confused.
“Yeah right.” Chloe scoffs, “You’re probably in HUGE trouble! Or they are pulling you out of FO training ‘cause you suck so bad.”
“Don’t listen to her. Just hurry up and go! They said immediately!” Ryan says. Chloe gives him an evil look.
“Okay! See ya’ll later!” I say running out. I still can’t help to be a little nervous. No one has ever been called to the headmaster’s parlor… just his office when they do something really bad. I swear the fake rat in the soup was harmless. I approach the huge wood door, take a deep breath and knock. The headmaster opens the door abruptly.
“Kaylia dear, come in, come in. There are some people that want to meet you.” Headmaster Morganfeld said. “This is Kaylia Ann Bellwood. She is the only twelveth year in history to take Field Operative Training. Also, she is one of the best in the class, her grade point average is a 4.32. We handpicked Miss Bellwood this summer as soon as you talked to me and challenging her to her full potential.”
It was really awkward to be standing there while the headmaster was bragging about you to some total strangers.
“Hello.” I said. “It’s nice to meet you.” I still had no idea who in the world these people were or why they needed to know so much about me!
“I think she is perfect for the job.” The lady said. Wait. Job? What job? I’m lost. “Miss Bellwood, we would like you to start in December, I understand that is when your winter break starts?”
“Y-Yes.” I manage to say. Okay. I’m a little freaked out. What in the world am I going to be doing? “I have one tiny little question… what in the world am I doing?”
“Oh, Headmaster Morganfeld will explain. Rob and I have to get going but we will see you again in two days. Good day.” The lady said and walked out with the huge man, I assumed to be Rob, following.
