•Alec•I take a deep breath as the webcam went on air.
"This is Alexander Lightwood here, son of Maryse Lightwood. As of now, seventy five hundred million people have been lost to the plague."
"That is nearly eighty percent of the world's population after world war three," I try to stay calm, "so the government has decided to keep all possible diseased people in quarantine."
"I know you are scared, and this may sound unfair, but this is best for everyone."
"We will supply you with food, water- whatever you need."
"I promise you, we will find a cure soon."
"Thank you."

"Izzy, What have we done?" I put my head in my hands as I sit down.
"We're trying to help," she tells me as she sits on the couch beside me and takes my free hand.
"We are locking up 18,000,000 innocent people!"
"If we don't- it'll take more." She tries to reason.
"We are ruining so many lives!"
"Alec- it will take them just like it took Max and dad."
I my mind flashes back to my little brother thrashing around on a table- choking on his own blood.
"We will find a cure."
"How can you be so sure?"

•6 months later•Today is the day that we finally got all of the rioting people into the quarantine.
I feel like a horrible person, escorting the people- sick and healthy to be locked up for as long as it takes to find a cure.
"You're killing us!" A light brown skinned girl growled.
The nerdy looking guy next to her took her hand and calmed her down.
I notice a man about my age with spiked up hair near the back holding the hand of a small girl.
I had my hands in my pockets as a few guards stood at the front and back of of the group of people.
I could feel their pain even though there was a chain fence between us. The building we were taking them to was intimidating -even for me- blinking lights against the autumn night sky, chain fences surrounding a small courtyard, guards at every corner.
They must think I'm the worst human being alive.
A few had tried to climb the fence and attack me, but security fought them back down.
The only words I uttered that day was not to hurt them.
I keep telling myself that I was doing the right thing, keeping it contained.
The other government workers are free to roam throughout the buildings.
The main one, where me, my family, and our close friends live we call "the institute."
From the day we announced that we were putting people in quarantine, security had to be lined up along the sides of the institute because of the attackers.
My mother barely does anything- it's always me, Izzy, and Jace- for some reason, she utters orders, and we just follow them.
It's been hard for her since my father and brother died, so she makes me announce everything. She makes Izzy do personal stuff for her and Jace attends meetings.
Around the time of the announcement, people had been losing faith in my mother's leadership skills, but the quarantine replenished everyone's opinion.
She's since been doing much more for her job, Taking over most of Jace's meetings.
Meanwhile, I turn and watch the rioting crowd get ushered into the building.
The plan we created was to get everyone tested, then put the patients in similar states into different sectors.
Each sector had a name. Healthy. At risk. Early. Average. Critical.
Our workers helped us categorize each person as quickly as possible, so we had them all relocated in the next 24 hours.
We had 10,000 different quarantines worldwide. Most are in the US, but there are many across the world. Each one has two thousand people. Which means we have four hundred in each sector (if each is equal).
They will have a few roommates in each room- which means fights are definitely possible.
This is going to be hell.
