Day/Night

The sun's light hugs my chill body
Easing me into the overgrown grass
Tickling my bare skin.

Against the vibrant, dancing, green
My pale body is a blinding light.
As if a crater had come,
Crashing into earth like a meteor.

Shadows of the trees
Dance over my closed eyelids.
The world is in constant motion
But in this moment I am stuck in time.

The wind blows,
And with it goes my occupied mind
Flying into the clouds
Farther than I can see.

Minutes turn into hours,
Night has come.
Fluttering eyelids open to see
The scattered white dots called stars.

The world has gone silent.
My ragged breath and
My thumping heartbeat
Are the only noises I hear.

My feet crush the small blades of grass
As I twirl under the cloudless sky.

Freedom,
In every way imagined.
