The second time
In under a month
That my mind is array
As my body craves
For the slumber
I cannot give in.Counting sheep
Going up to 150,
Tossing the sheets
Curling my feet,
Breathing slow
Focus on the air,
Little scenarios
Vanishing away.Gone away
As the world sleeps.
Mind awake,
Thought processing,
Ejecting forgotten woes.Snores fill the darkness
As REM starts to take over.
Birds chirp in the distance,
But it's only 3 AM
Are they awake like I
Unable to fall
Into the depths of slumber
Or is it all in my mind?Cracking knuckles
Creates the blast of a gunshot.
Small noises
Turn into monstrous demons.
Boredom haunts me
What can I do
Besides stare into a screen
Emitting the only source of life
Providing a sense of comfort
As I realize I'm alone
In a dimly lit kitchen.Sighs become common
As I close my lips
Staring into the ceiling,
Wondering when
My body becomes dormant
Drifting into the foam
We call dreams.
