"I thought I could trust you."

I placed my hand on the tree, taking a breather as I had just ran a mile into the woods, trying to find out the hunters' hiding spot. I have checked the whole town to see where the new guy was staying to only find out that he was staying no where. I took in a wheezing breath before standing tall.

"Okay, Spencer, going out in the middle of the woods was an amazing idea. I could totally die by the hands of a hunter any second now and probably will not be remembered." I groaned, slapping myself in the forehead. "I need to start working out again." I let out a breathless chuckle as I realized that I sounded insane by talking to myself.

I exhaled deeply before continuing treading through the woods, leaves crunching underneath my boots.

Snap

I swirled around quickly, the knife -- a huge knife I had stole from the kitchen -- was secured in my right hand.

Snap

I swirled around again, this time, my breathing erratic as I realized that either the hunter was playing with me or... It was a vampire.

Snap

I swirled around, my hair flapping around in the wind. "I can hear you!" I shouted into the woods surrounding me. "Come out, come out wherever you are!" I taunted like a fucking idiot. "Wait... nevermind. Don't come out."

"Love." The voice came behind me, and my instinct was to turn around and stab the person but the voice that was emitted froze me in place. There was no way... "If I was the enemy, you would've been dead already."

Anger consumed every cell of my being and I swiveled around, and stabbed him in the chest before backing up in shock. The knife was lodged in his chest and that is what made me realize that I was not just hearing things. He was in fact standing there.

"Klaus." I gasped out, barely missing the hurt look in his eyes as I called him by his name and not nickname. "No." I shook my head in denial. I did not want to believe that he was alive all this time and didn't tell me. "No, no, no, no." I covered my ears and fell to the ground, closing my eyes tightly. "You're not real."

"I am very much real, Spencer." A hand touched my shoulder and I flinched away, tears building up in the corner of my eyes. "Hey, hey." I was pulled into his embrace but before he coukd fully wrap his arms around me, I jumped away from his embrace, my hands forming into fists as rage consumed me.
