"Sometimes you gotta let the beast out to play."

"I told you Agnes, I feel great!" I exclaimed to the older witch. She was being too persistent and I kept trying to ignore her. "Just leave me alone." I continued to flip through the book that I was currently reading.

"If she says she's fine, she's fine," Hayley told Agnes with an eye roll, getting irritated with the witch. "Do what she said and leave her alone."

"You are overdue for a checkup," Agnus said, trying to gain my attention.

"What am I gonna do?" I asked, setting the book down. "Pop into the Quarter for a quick ultrasound? A pregnant wolf escorted by a witch—nothing to see here!" I threw my hands up in the air.

"A lot of women would kill to have a child. It strikes me as odd that you're not taking better care of yours," Rebekah said from across the room, her back towards us while she typed away at her computer.

I turned around and glared at Rebelah. How dare she think I don't care about my baby. Afterall, I've always wanted a child.

"I know a doctor out in the bayou. Off the beaten path. Now, I took the liberty of making an appointment for you. Tonight, after-hours, just us. Vampires will never get word of it," Agnes told me, her eyebrows raised and her eyes wide, showing dark chocolate pools.

I let out an aggrivated sigh, nodding. "Okay, fine," I told her, looking towards Hayley.

"Bayou-baby-doctor it is," Hayley said with a small smile. The three of us got up off our asses, walking towards the door.

"THIS is the doctor's office?" I asked, raising my eyebrows and pointed towards the small building that's in the middle of the woods. It was currently in the middle of the night, making me a little suspicious of the whole ideal. Who the hell goes to a doctor in the middle of the night, in the middle of no where.

Agnes smiled at me, glancing back at Hayley. "Dr. Paige is only this far out because Marcel's men kept terrorizing her patients. Go! She won't bite!" She told me in a very calm voice.

I slowly got out of the car, the same time Hayley did. We looked at each other and slowly made it into the building.

"THAT'S a unique birthmark," Dr. Paige said to Hayley as she was giving me an ultrasound, we could faintly hear the fetal heartbeat. I shot Hayley a look and she quickly fixed her shirt, covering up the mark.

"Your baby's heart rate is perfect," She told me, smiling.

I closed my eyes and smiled, happy to hear good news for once.
