Chapter 3

The Big Day

It has been 7 ½ long weeks; Kimberly, NeNe, Tamika & Terrell was preparing for their final day at Martin Luther King High School; class of 1998. All four students were excited about today and wanted it to be over and fast. Kim & NeNe was planning on taking over the business once they graduated so their parents could go on vacation. A family vacation was well overdue in their eyes; the Mead family never took a family vacation because of all the hard work they put into the diner. Tamika wanted to open a hair salon; she already did everyone hair around the hood, but she wanted more. With plans to attend cosmetology school, Tamika knew she would blow-up fast. Chuck, on the other hand, had plans to take care of his girl and remove any and all problems that came her way.

NE-NE WE ABOUT TO GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL YELLED KIM! YES, SIS, THIS IS IT OUR FINAL DAY & WE HAVE TO MAKE THE BEST OF IT. The girl was so excited about graduating from high school. They never thought it would be together being that Kim just turned 17 and should only be going to 12th grade. Kim & NeNe was best friends; most people couldn't believe it because sisters usually fight each other all the time; but not these two sisters. The love they shared was unbreakable. Kim so are you and Chuck going to start your family now asked NeNe? No crazy we have plans and want to wait for about 2-3 more years before we have any children. Kim loved Terrell Washington with all her heart & soul and planned never to leave his side. She was in deep thought when a friendly voice interrupted her.

BITCHES!!!!!!!!!! We about to get out of jail! Our freedom is only 2 hours away & life will start for sure; stated Tamika. All three girls were talking about their plans for the future. They all had pretty much the same plans. Family, business & money; nothing else mattered to them. Okay, Kim; so when will you and Chuck get and married and have to first baby you always talked about asked Mika. What the fuck you and Ne just want we knocked-up fast as shit! No girl it's just you have spoken about this for the past ten years. Listen here ladies; I plan on starting a family but not right now. Chuck and I want to make sure that this business remains standing, we want to take a trip, buy a house all that before adding our children to the mix. Oh shit! Children stated Ne-Ne; I get more than one niece or nephew; I too said, Mika. We are going to be the best aunties ever promise. Kim was laughing so hard at her sister & best friend. She knew that she had nothing to worry about when she decided to have children. The girls were now dressed and ready to go. They all were wearing long skirts; belly cuts shirts and hills. Tamika did their hair the night before; so they would have one less thing to complete that morning. Final show and we are the best-looking bitches around stated Kim. Okay, ladies time to get our diplomas!

This morning was different for the Mrs. Mead. Yvette never told her girls what happen at her doctor appointment almost two months ago. The fact of the matter was that she is dying and fast; Yvette has stage 4 Breast Cancer that was detected too late. She and Jesse wanted to protect the girls and decided to wait until after they finish school before they break this terrible news to their wonderful daughters. Yvette was scared out her mind and hiding this information was killing her with each day that passed. She had no idea how much time she had left and wanted every moment to be the best. Yvette was so proud of her daughters; they were her world, and only wanted the best for them. All she could think about was not being around to see her grandchildren or their children. Yvette was scared and didn't want anything to hurt her family. She knew once they broke that news to the girls they would flip out and try and take care of her even more. Jesse & Yvette have been married for 25 years now right out of high school. They never thought life would be this good to them; their beautiful family & great business; they were comfortable, and so was their girls.
