Chapter 5

July 7, 1998, will be a day Kim, NeNe, Tamika and Chuck will never forget; this was the day that would change their lives forever. As Jesse sat in the family car waiting to say his final goodbye to the woman that changed his life; all he could think was how do I still go on? What will happen to my daughters without their mother? Jesse was thinking about the first time he laid eyes on Yvette; they were in the 5th grade together. Jesse and Yvette always played together on the block with all the other kids. He never noticed how beautiful she was until she walked into their 5th class. She was wearing a long denim skirt, white & pink button-up blouse and black & white penny loafers; her hair was pressed out and placed in a ponytail. When Jesse saw her, he knew that she would be his wife & mother of his children someday. He then remembered the first time they had sex; which was the first for both of them. They had no idea what to do, but after they made love for the first time, Jesse and Yvette knew they were together for life. Both 16 years old, all they knew was there was no one else made for them. Their first child NeNe came when the young couple was only 18 years old fresh out of high school; Jesse worked in construction to support his family, and Yvette cooked dinners for the neighborhood. Two years later came Kimberly, their baby girl; they both were so happy and decided this was it no more children. Yvette felt bad because she never gave Jesse his son, but he was never worried or upset. Jesse had his family, and all he ever wanted was to make them happy.

Mr. Mead is you ready? A voice said pulling Jesse from his wonderful memories. Yes, Jim, I'm ready; give just me one minute to collect my thoughts. Please? As the family entered Fern Rock Community Baptist Church located and 67th & Broad Street; they were not surprised by all the family and friends that showed up for Yvette final service. There was soft music playing as they walked up. Rev. Ray respected the family wishing to play "Home by Stephanie Mills." Everyone was crying as the family walked by; many different people stopped them for hugs & to express their condolences. Jesse held his daughter's hands as they walked to Yvette casket for their final viewing; Tamika and Chuck were standing with them. Kim just stood there looking at her beautiful mother; all she could think was she was now the head of the family. She promised her mother she would take care of Jess & Ne-Ne no matter what. Chuck knew that his girlfriend was hurting and just wanted to take all her pain away; he stood back and watched as Kim walked away from Yvette casket with a look of death on her face. NeNe and Jesse both cried uncontrollably as they left to take their seats. Tamika was the final person to view Yvette body; she leaned over to place a soft kiss on her cheek. Mama Vett I'll take care of Kim don't you worry; we'll be okay I promise said, Tamika. As Tamika went to take her seat she notices a strange man standing in the back of the church; stacking it off Tamika sat with her best friend/family. The feeling would go away; so she turned to see if he was still back there. The man was standing by the door just watching everyone in the church; Tamika leaned over to Chuck. Hey bro check out the man in the back of the church, he looks out of place, and I never saw him before.

As Reverend Ray spoke beautiful words about Yvette and her family; everyone listened carefully, they all knew that his words were true and to the point. Chuck turned to see who Mika was talking about, but he didn't know that Kim heard them and was looking at the same time. Kim looked and turned back before anyone notice, Chuck looked and seen that the man was part of the Williams family. He remembers him from the meeting between his brother and Gary Williams; after he fucked Joe up last year. That same man was sitting across the street watching the house when they came back.

Jesse, NeNe & Kimberly just know that Yvette loved her family more than anything and she is now in a better place. Y'all hold onto her memory of love & respect for she never had a bad day while you all was one. Jesse, we ask you, please believe that Fern Rock family is here if you need anything at all; just request.
