My eyes can’t stop looking at the boy who’s dirty blonde hair is covering his red crying face. All the sadness he’s kept inside is now released right in front of me. I can’t even imagine the sadness he’s feeling, he lost his twin. Isn’t twins’ bond one of the strongest?, I mean they’ve never been without each other. The thing that must hurt the most is the guilt. He thinks it’s his fault Martinus is dead. “Marcus”, I say carefully and stroke my hand over his arm. “Don’t say it wasn’t my fault”, he says seriously and looks at me with his tear filled eyes. “It’s the first thing everyone’s said to me when I’ve told them and I don’t want you to be like everyone else”. “Sorry”, I say quietly. “You know when I said that you’re not the only one who’s had it tough...”. “Don’t apologize”, he says and smiles at me a little. “You didn’t know”. We just sit there in silence as we unconsciously move closer to each other and before I know it I lean my head against Marcus’ shoulder and he puts his strong arm around. “So that’s how Justin blackmailed you into acting like this?”, I ask and look up at him. He bites his lip and nods. I sit up straight and move away some hair from his face. “Well I know the truth now”, I say. “He can’t control you anymore”. “You don’t understand Freja”, he sighs. “My parents worked their asses off to make sure this wouldn’t come out, I can’t risk Justin bringing it up again”. “But it wasn’t your fault!”, I almost yell. “It’d hurt my family too!”, he yells and stands up. “I’m already the biggest disappointment ever I’m not giving them another reason to hate me!”. “They don’t hate you!”, I yell and stand up. He starts walking back and forth with a big wrinkle between his eyes. “Marcus look at me”, I say and take a grip of him. “There has to be something we can do”. He puts his hands around mine kisses them gently. “I wish you had met Martinus, he would’ve liked you”, he says with a little smile. “You remind me so much of him, you always try to see the good and positive things in everything”. He takes my hand and leads my downstairs to the front door. “But you can’t find something that doesn’t exist”, he sighs. “Marcus we can’t just give up”, I say desperately. “I’m not letting Justin use you like this”. “Don’t worry about it blondie”, he says in attempt to cheer me up and he plays a little with my hair. “I’ll figure something out, I always do”. “But you don’t have to, you don’t have to go through everything alone”, I say desperately. “I wanna help”. “You can’t”, he sighs and holds up the door for me. “Why did you tell me all this if you don’t want my help?”, I ask. He looks deeply into my eyes and then hugs me tightly. He hides his face in my short blonde hair and then whispers in my ear; “Because I couldn’t stand the thought of you seeing me as someone else than that happy, kind and funny Marcus you remember seeing on TV when you were younger”. Then he slowly closes the door shutting the door between us once again.
