I’m just about to walk into the classroom after my uncomfortable meeting with Lexi when Gabriel runs up to me. “Freja there you are”, he says and gasps for air. “Have you talked to Lexi?”. I nod unsure and he sighs in relief. “Thank god I tried to talk to her yesterday but I couldn’t find her”, he says. “Do you know where she is?, I need to make things right with her”. “It might be too late for that”, I say nervously and point as Lexi and Justin walks in hand in hand. A wave of sadness fills Gabriel eyes. “Gabe”, I say and put my hand on his. “This is not your fault”. “I’ll see you later”, he says sadly and walks away. I look over at Lexi who gives Justin a kiss before he leaves. I feel the anger pulsing in my veins and I storm over to her. “Are you happy now?!”, I ask madly. “Excuse me?”, she asks. “You’ve just pushed away the first guy ever who might actually care about you for real”, I say madly. “Who sees you as something more than a hot body, good job Lex”. And now it’s my turn to leave her speechless as I walk into class. I walk out of the boring building a notice a familiar hood waiting for me outside. I walk over to him as Marcus pulls off his hood with a smile. “Hey blondie”, he says with a teasing smile. I rise my fist at him making him laugh. “What’s up?”, I ask. “I wanna show you something”, he says with a cute excitement in his voice I haven’t heard before. “What?”, I ask. “You’ll see But we have to hurry the sun’s about to go down”, he says and takes my wrist and runs with me towards the car. We drive to the other end of campus where the old astronomy tower is on a little hill. “C’mon”, he says still as excited and runs with me inside. I follow him up the stairs and I can’t help but laugh at his sudden enthusiasm. “So my dad is really into astronomy”, he says as we walk upstairs. “And this was first thing he showed me at the university”. We reach the top which has a big rounded ceiling. “What’s so special about this?”, I ask. He gives me a secretive smile as he presses a button and the roof starts to slowly open. just stare at it as all the stars starts to appear above me. Marcus takes a stand next to me and I can feel him smiling. “Wow”, I say quietly. “I knew you’d like it”, he says and chuckles. “Me and my mom always used to look at the stars”, I say. “There’s Orion, Andromeda and the Pegasus”. “Dad tried to teach me to”, he chuckles. “But I only remember one”. “Which one?”, I ask. “I know which star to follow home”, he says and points. “The North Star”, we say in choir. We glance at each other when I feel how small drops of water hits me and soon it’s pouring down. “Here”, Marcus says and gives me his hoodie. He pulls the hood over my head and I can’t help but smile. “Thank you”, I say. “C’mon”, he says and takes my hand. “I’ll drive you back to your dorm”.
