EPILOGUE

I peak out from backstage and see all the fans waiting in anticipation. I look back at Marcus who's standing there nervously. "Don't worry", I say and walk over to him. "You've done this a thousand times before". "Not alone", he says quietly. "You're not alone", I say and hug his hand. He smiles and we kiss each other softly then he walks out on stage. The whole arena goes quiet and all eyes are on Marcus. "Um hello everyone", Marcus says nervously. "It's been awhile, a really long time actually. It's probably really weird seeing me up here without Martinus and trust me it is for me too. So I guess you're wondering where we've been 'cause we practically disappeared two years ago. Martinus...". He gets quiet and I see how he's trying to hold his tears back. Without thinking I run out on stage next to him. He looks at me in shock as I take his hard determined. "You're not alone", I whisper. A little smile spreads on his face. "The reason Martinus isn't here is because he died in an accident two years ago", Marcus says. The whole crowd goes quiet and I hear how some people start crying. Marcus gets unsure and I hug his hand harder. "You know how they say, you don't know what you have until it's gone", he says. "That's not true I knew what I had, I just thought I'd never lose it". I put my arms around his waist and he pulls me closer still looking at the crowd. "But Marcus and Martinus will never die", he says determined. "'Cause we still have the memories and that's where Martinus will keep living. He takes my hand and we sit down on two chairs next to a guitarist. "This song is for Martinus", Marcus says. "My twin brother but more importantly my best friend". Then he starts singing an acoustic version of "Together" and everyone sings with him, including me. I glance at him as he sings his heart out and I can't help but smile. 'Cause for the first time I see the Marcus he wanted me to see him as the kind, funny and humble Marcus who I know deep down never really left.
