It had been a few days and I had recieved a letter from Elijah. It involved a lot of bullshit as usual, older brother stuff that I did not need to know at the moment. He also said that he was thinking of joining the academy just to keep an eye out for me. My nightmare was about to come true. Crap. What would even happen if he did? Would I get less time to spend with Gear that way? I sure hoped not. I still wasn't sure if I did indeed love Gear or not. He was sweet and protective and all. But.. well.. He was targeted a lot by people. He usually shrugged it off. But thinking about his injuries he took for me. I had overheard him and Dante the other day. He had said these exact words. "I'd rather die than see Ashley in pain." I smiled at the thought. Was he just not admitting his love for me. He was shy! It was hard to believe because of the hard exterior he always had on. I looked around and quickly pulled out my phone to text him. I was going to confess. I had taken enough courage to me to confess my love to Gear. Kyera was standing right behind me. "Who you textin'?" her nothern accent broke through and I jumped and quickly locked my phone. "A secret huh? Is it Gear?" she smiled and I said with a low voice "mabye..." she giggled and sat down beside me "I was thinking, why not arrange a picnic for the houses?" it wasn't a bad idea. But with all three houses in the same space would mean. Fights. A lot of them. Especially with Gear. I didn't want him to get as hurt as he always was. I had seen him in action. Throwing people left and right to save me from their fists. "Why is Gear protecting me?" I murmured. Kyera picked it up and put an arm around me. "Are you sure you want to know why?" I nodded and she continued "he has been through more than he should be. He killed his own sister when she killed someone who was dear to him." I looked up at her. He had... killed his own sibling? "So, he doesn't want to loose more people dear to him? Is that what you are saying?" she nodded. I inspected her face, it was filled with sorrow. No, not sorrow. Worry. I decided not to ask and put my phone away. The confession would have to wait. "Has he told you he loves you yet?" she asked, it came out of nowhere and I got a bit startled by the sudden question. I shook my head and said "no.. I heard him say that he'd rather die than see me in pain." Kyera smiled "then he really loves you then. I tell you what, give him time. He is a shy bean, soon he will confess." she patted me on the back before saying "so, you in on planning the picnic?" I smiled and nodded and we both rose to walk downstairs.
Winter and John helped with the cooking as I was sitting and making flower crowns for everyone. This was something I had been doing for a while now, I felt like it was something I actually enjoyed truly. Kyera piped up "I have an idea! Gather around!" we all did as she said before she continued "we can make it into a blend of pool party and picnic!" I smiled, pool parties were fun when there were people you knew there. We all nodded and Winter said "it could be a great event for a change!" Kyera nodded as she waved over Ida here. "Ida, could you get the pool schedule for me?" she nodded and was off to get the schedule. I continued to make flower crowns. I made them colour matching. Blue and white for the Wolfdales, orange and pink for the Foxbloods and purple and black for the Dragonprides. I stacked them neatly knowing that there were 12 students in each house, counting with the leaders. Ida came back and handed Kyera the paper. She studied it before looking at an upcomming time. "in 2 days the arrangements have to be done! Sound good?" we all nodded again. As the captain Kyera had the power to get us to do anything. It was scary but I for one felt safer and safer the more I got to know her. When I was done I looked at the unfinished pennants and asked "Kyera, can I finish the pennants? They are.. a bit dull.." she smiled and nodded "go ahead! We need as much as possible done in 2 days!" I nodded and went to work with enhancing them. It was fun to set up a party. I still didn't know why we did it. I finished them and looked at the result and then at the watch. It was 1 AM. I had to get to bed before tomorrow.
