Part 20

--Ashley's POV--

Kyera had handed me one of the baby basilisks and said "Take care of it! She's yours now!" I texted Gear trying to figgure out how to take care of this thing. It was asleep on my head and I felt the warmth of it's body spread through me. I knew that basilisks grew to gigantic creatures. "Gear, how do u take care of a baby basilisk?? >o<" I waited for a response and looked at the tail of it. It was gray and had scales on it, on the tip of the tail there was four tiny spikes that grew out of it. Two on each side. I heard the hissing noise of it's breaths. My phone buzzed and it was from Gear "Dunno, I have one aswell. It is just clinging onto my leg and refuses to let go" I had to stop myself from laughing. It was almost as clingy as I was. But hey, I was trying to get past my clinging stadge and be a bit.. less clingy but still clingy. Which was hard! But I managed. I stood up carefully not to drop the baby basilisk and thought of names as I walked to the library. I had come up with the names: Tyra, Feather, Lizzie and Crystal. I was dragged towards Lizzie, Tyra and Crystal.

I saw Elijah and went to sit beside him "Hi there" he greeted as he flipped a page in the relatively old book about vampire hunters. I shrugged as the basilisk slid down my arm and onto the table. I started to pet her because, well it was an animal and they needed love I guess. I reached for a book about mythical creatures. I flipped to the page of the Basilisks and started to read it. Elijah looked over at what I was reading and looked confused before he saw the baby basilisk and shrugged. After an awkward amount of silence he finally spoke "so when did you become a mother to that thing?" I glared at him. He just called me a mum. "wellll, Kyera handed it to me and said that it was mine now.." he leaned his head back and laughed. I blushed when I saw Gear walk in with his little basilisk clung to his leg. He looked very uncomftroble as he walked up to me. "Hi bean~" he smiled lightly and kissed me on the cheek. Elijah gagged a bit where he was sitting. I swatted his leg and said "isn't this what you and Oliver do all the time when he comes over?" he froze and looked at me. "You win!" he said and I chuckled.

Gear smiled and asked "can I sit?" after a while. Elijah nodded slightly not really caring that much. Gear had his little basilisk nibbling on his ear. It really thought of him as a parent. Mine was laying in my lap asleep. I patted her on the back as Ada skipped up to us along with Vincent. They sat down with their food and seemed pretty giddy about something. Elijah looked down at his food and sighed. I shrugged as I saw Vincent.

--Elijah's POV--

I couldn't dare to look up at Ada and her brother. I was afraid they knew about what I had done. I was reading about more methods to kill a vampire. I didn't like these two. They were, spooky in some way I couldn't describe. They gave me chills down my spine as soon as I saw them. The book had said a silver stake would be the best to kill a vampire. Wooden stakes never worked on vampires. I looked over at Gear before I jumped from my phone buzzing. It was Oliver calling me. I picked up "hello there" I got met by an overly excited Oliver "I GOT ACCEPTED INTO THE ACADEMY!" my  jaw dropped open with a pop. He got accepted into the school? What the... "Well, that is amazing! Do you have any hopes on which house?" I asked, hoping he wouldn't choose something else than Wolfdale. "YES, FOXBLOOD!" I froze. Ashley looked at me with wonder in his eyes. I felt the glare from Ada aswell. This sucked. "Oh! Well, that's good!" I tried to sound happy but I guess that some dissapointment slipped into my voice because I got a "Didn't expect me to choose that one huh?" I chuckled "well, I hope that you are happy with that house choice!" I heard someone behind him shout after him to come eat cookies and I guessed it was Serena or Selena. Not being able to tell the differance between them. "o-oh! got to go! Cookies are on the table!" he hung up and I was left thinking about what I was going to say next.

Gear was walking around in circles with the little snake thing trailing his steps. It was super cute for some reason. It was like it could turn- I didn't have time to think more untill it turned into a baby and Gear's head snapped right around. I inspected Gear's face and he looked scared out of his mind. I guessed he had never taken care of a baby before. He walked up to him and picked him up and started to rock him back and forth. He still looked scared as he texted someone. I guessed it was Ashley because he came rushing inside with a baby in his arms as well. He looked more calm than Gear atleast. I sighed "stop being so scared Gear, you'll scare the baby" I chuckled to myself and went upstairs and let the two deal with it themselves. I heard a cry from downstairs and then Ashley's whisper to Gear and then footsteps before it got quiet. I chuckled and went to bed since it was starting to get late. I put on my headphones and put on some music before starting up mystic messenger. I was so tired I couldn't think straight. I fumbled with the buttons before giving up and going to sleep listening to music. It felt nice just being able to listen to music without being disturbed.
