meliodas pov
It was almost at the break of dawn and Elizabeth is sleeping on my lap. Her angelic face seems to appear more when she's sleeping, as she softly inhales and exhale. I slowly kissed her forehead and removed my hand from hers, and gently stood without waking her up. I put a pile of leaf and rolled it into a pillow, enough to support her head.
I head out to the north east. I'll probably pass by the Sacred Tree, where it is guarded by the Holy Maiden. I moved swiftly and caught up by some savage tribe, who was standing by the river.
"Hey! You there!" The man said.
"Stop right there!" they shouted.
"Get out of the way, humans." I said. You won't like it when my blood boils.
"In that form, you can't possibly... I thought demons are wiped out?" whispered a member, who was shaking in fear.
"He's probably a mage."
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be going now."
"Pay up first you fool. We've worked hard to build that bridge and your ass can't go on the other side unless you pay up."
I waved my hand to chant Hellblaze, but a sight of Elizabeth's worried face appeared before my eyes. I stopped. The savages fired and I use Full Counter instead, and their canons were destroyed resulting to release smoke. I left right before they'll see me.
"I need to keep my anger at pace." I murmured to myself.
Riri, who I left to take care of Elizabeth while I'm gone. I'm travelling miles per second and it took me not long enough to get here. I saw the house with barrels piled up outside a small house, and a rocking chair was placed on the porch.
"Oh, oh Monspiet look! Look who showed up! Good to see your ass again huh?" A familiar voice cheered.
"I thought you died-?" Monspiet whispered, but was cut off by Derriere by elbowing him in the stomach.
"Shush your mouth, Meliodas is back."
"It's good to see you, guys."
"Darn right you should." said Derrieri.
"Hello, Meliodas. Whay brings you here?" said Monspiet in a calm voice.
"I'm here to take Zeldris's ashes."
"Oh? What for?"
"He said he had a mission to do, and he asked for help."
They both looked at each other, and turn to me. Derriere went inside and I was left with Monspiet.
"Care for some booze, Meliodas?"
"Gladly. This long trip is exhausting."
"Hold that thought." He walked towards the large barrels and pick up a glass bottle and poured some booze that was coming out of it.
"Here,"
"Thanks."
"What was his mission anyway?" he asked, while we sipped some beer.
"He didn't say anything. So tell me, why have you chose to be humans? I mean, you've been granted the Demon King's powers, yet you've chose to be a lowly human."
"We didn't chose to be like this."
"Then who?"
"Your lover did." He said, while playing with his beard.
Lover? What do you know about Elizabeth? I stood up confuse, and faced him.
"Here ya go- hey, what's going on?" asked Derriere, who was carrying Zeldris's ashes.
"Meliodas, you're just confuse. Go find Zeldris and and ask him about all the things you are meant to be, to become Demon King."
"... Thanks, and I'll be going my way." I took the little treasure and fled. Why are people here in Britannia talking about my death? And why do they know Elizabeth? We're not even showing our relationship outside. This shit is confusing me, I don't know what to do! I screamed in anger, while I'm on top of a mountain.
Meliodas
A voice murmured.
Meliodas.
"What?!" I said in annoyance, and dark flames surround the area. What in the world is happening to me.. I... I don't know how.. Ever since Elizabeth confessed to me... No, that's not the reason.... I feel, I feel eating some humans.... Those juicy, lowly creatures.... I ...... GAAHHH!!
"Thirsty, eh?" said Zeldris as his image is starting to appear.
"I'm.... I'm not thirsty!"
"Here. Its corpse is still fresh. It died two days ago." he said while he throwed a corpse of a fairy in front of me.
"No. Elizabeth will see me as disgusting."
"Brother, you're a demon. Eating humans is a part of our food chain."
"I... No!" Slowly my eyes are changing into a form of a demon. Blood rushed through my body as it enters my 7 hearts. The demon mark in my forehead appeared more than ever. It was then I knew I had a feeling.... A feeling of hunger. I wanted to kill.
"I'm not gonna eat that thing whole." I walked closely to it, and picked my finger to his throat and climbed up as his soul exits his mouth. I swallowed it whole and felt my energy boost up.
"I feel alive.."
"I see you are slowly becoming the demon you are, huh. See brother? This is you without that goddess! Now, burn my ashes and chant this." he handed me a piece of burnt paper and I scattered his ashes. I use demon flames and watch as it pours out dark miasma.
Elsur.... vla.....es! I chanted, and the flames swooned over Zeldris's soul, circling his body as he turns into a living being.
After his transformation, his feet touched the ground and looked above and below. He took a few stretch before saying a word.
"Ah," he sighed. "I'm back, Britannia."
"Zeldris... Who am I?" I asked lowly, while waiting for his answer. I need answers.
".. You are my brother. I look up to you ever since we're young, and your dream was to become the king. You wished to rule Britannia by yourself, and eliminate every single goddess."
"That's not enough for me to know who I really am."
"Which is why I'll help you remember."
"So what is your mission? I'll help you."
"My mission is for you to be demon king."
"Me? But, father is sealed, right?"
"Yes, so my mission is for you to take his place."
"But why? Why not you?"
"I believe that in royal times, the eldest gets to claim the throne."
"Without the commandments, how can I achieve the demon king's full power? And who are to follow us when we have no demons left?"
"Let's start with the child." he said.
