Chapter 3: Let's Die Together

After the druids healed the drained sins and other people, I locked myself inside a cave, and there Elizabeth lay in her white dress. There's so much I would do but I don't know where to start. I might do some further investigations on her body conditions and her fluids. If it becomes positive, I might as well open up her stomach. But I don't know how to tell the captain.

"You're Merlin, the greatest mage of all. You can do anything." Escanor said, while resting his shoulder on the rock wall.

"Oh, is your arm fine?"

"Finer than ever."

"And the stitches?"

"Stings like an ant- not even feeling a thing."

I walked to him and slowly pat his shoulders, to where the stitches are. He looked at me with a smile on his face but later on went numb.

"Pride of sin, you can't escape pain. You could only hide it."

"I know I know."

"Since you're here, help me with Elizabeth."

"What seems to be the matter?"

"I believe captain and Elizabeth made contact."

"When? They haven't been able to have privacy ever since they were freed from the Commandment's lair."

"They actually been fighting a lot lately."

Fighting... Damn, now I remember. Elizabeth is always unsual these days and she's always wearing a coat, which explains it. She eats a lot, sleeps more, gets irritated by Meliodas, not letting him grope her, of course. It makes sense now. They haven't been able to be together ever since they were back from the Boar Hat but there are chances they made contact in the Commandment's lair.

"Escanor, hold this thing for me. It's quite heavy. And put it there in the middle." I'll be operating for a while.

I grab the scalpel and opened up her stomach to see if it's really true.

And I'm right. She is pregnant. But the womb is still active, and the fetus is stilll alive. How? But... My magic isn't fit for this- I can't explain this.

"Oh my. She is pregnant?"

"Apparently, yes. My theory is correct."

"You're always right."

It was still beating. Elizabeth's heart was still beating, and it gave me hope she was still alive. The sac had a tiny hole that made the juice inside scatter all over her body, making it sustain her heart. It explains why it's still whole despite being pierced. But the worst part is that it is demon blood that sustains her.

"Heck, this is going to be messy."

"Should I help?"

"Probably. Hold this."

I let my hand dig gently into her abdomen and took out the sac.

"Oh, it's a baby!"

"Not yet. It might die if it doesn't have enough demon blood sustaining it."

"Then why have you removed it on Elizabeth?"

"It's because I can't bring her to captain when there's a thing inside her."

"What are you going to do with it then?"

"Get Meliodas's blood."

"You know that's my job."

"Escanor it's nighttime. Slapping you would be massacre."

"You're right... I'm at my weakest point."

"The only thing you could help me with is watch the fetus. If something happens, throw this orb." I gave Escanor a ball which will transport me in an instant.

I cleaned Elizabeth up, dressed her and took her with me.

I was transported in the underworld in which Meliodas is. Heat was at its highest point in here. Burning flames were all over the place. And there, Meliodas had destroyed rocks and ruins. But he stood in a giant horn, talking and pleading.

"Captain, here's Elizabeth."

He said nothing. He turns around and,

"Merlin, is it true?"

I sighed. "Yes. It is."

"Is the curse gone?"

"Yes."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because you would probably kill yourself if I did."

He stopped and stared at me.

"Meliodas, Elizabeth's heart is still beating. She's pregnant. You wouldn't want to die without knowing the child has no parents."

His eyes widened, but gleamed again."I care no less about the child." He lowers his head and stared at his sword.

"Merlin, take care of her." He smiled faintly, and pierced his heart crushed.
Just like how Elizabeth died.

"CAPTAIN!!" I screamed.
