Part 6: The Truth

"Hey, (Y/N)?" He asked, "Why were you in the woods with all those injuries?"

Now~

You stayed silent for a minute, looking at the ground, before Sabo spoke again, "So? What happened?"

You looked up and said with a blank face, " Nothing. Nothing happened."

"That's BS!!" Shouted Ace, " You were laying in the middle of the woods with scratches, burns, and covered in blood! I call that nothing!!"

"Well, it's nothing you need to worry about!!" You yelled back.

"Like hell!!!" (Ace)

"Ace! Stop yelling at her! She won't tell us anything if we keep yelling!" (Sabo)

"Humph! Fine! But if she won't tell us--"

"Alright, alright! (Y/N), please tell us what happened."

"Why should I? I don't trust you yet. I mean I only just met you yesterday." (Y/N)

"I can't make you trust us, but what harm will it do to tell us? It's not like we would do anything to you. Unless you put us in danger, then we will have to do something." (Sabo)

You thought about it for a second before replying, "Fine I'll tell you. But I don't want you guys to interup me! It's annoying enough as it is having to tell you guys."

"Fine." (Sabo)

"Tch." (Ace)

"Okay!" (Luffy)

"Okay," You took a breath before continuing, " I am currently 8 years old. For the past 8 years, I have been living with a man. He found me in an alleyway as a baby. I was only 2 weeks old then. He took me in and I have been with him for all of these 8 years of my life. People would call what he did a heroic thing, others praised him. But that was only till I learned how to walk and follow orders. I learned how to walk and talk early for some reason, so that only made things worse. The man who raised me, he was a drug addict. He would drink to where he could barely stand, smoke like there's no tomorrow and use any drugs he could get his hands on. When I learned how to do things, he put me to work right away. Everyday, I would wash dishes, clean, bring him his alcohol, and many other things. But that was a dream compared to what he did to me if I did something wrong, or simply if he felt like it. Every night, he would abuse me, beat me, break me. When I did something wrong, he would do that. They lasted until I either past out or was on the verge of death. The abuse wasn't just physical, though. It was also verbal and mental abuse. I was never allowed out of the house and all the windows were boarded up so no sunlight came in. I never knew what the sun or stars looked like. I had never seen the moon or a forest before in my life before yesterday. That man was also a sucky gambler, too. He lost all of his money, but somehow still managed to stay in the walls of the town. So he has some power, but not that much. Yesterday was just like any other day. The chores, drugs, gambling, beatings, but something changed. He was in the middle of it when he stated to speak. He said 'You know brat, you aren't very fun to play with anymore. And you know what I do with old toys? I get rid of them!' Then he pulled out a knife and stabbed me with it. That's the wound you patched up on me yesterday. I dodged the second time he tried to do that and hit him in the head with an empty liquor bottle that he threw on the floor before. I made a run for the door and made it. I had never been outside before so I just ran in a random direction and ended up in the middle of the woods. I collapsed and just stared up at the sky and trees. I was in aw. It was so beautiful, but then everything rushed back to me. The pain I had just escaped, the loneliness, fear, sadness, and the relief for finally getting out of there. I was so happy that I decided I didn't care if I died right then. So I laid there, waiting. Then you guys came, and now I'm here."

When you looked up, the three of them were starring at you. Luffy had his hat covering his eyes so you couldn't see what his expression was and Sabo was doing the same thing. Ace had his hands in fists and was shaking. You were confused. You didn't know how to act so you were about to ask them a question until something wet hit your hand. You touched your face and relized you started crying sometime when you were telling your story. You wiped the tears away and put on an emotionless face again and looked up. The three of them were looking at you now with hate and anger, but you could tell it wasn't directed at you. You made a confusing face and was about to ask why they were mad when Luffy came over. He took off his hat and placed it firmly on your head. You don't know why, but that jester made you feel warm inside. He then sat down and hugged you. You were so confused at this point that you didn't know what to do except stare.

"Don't worry, (Y/N), we'll protect you now." He stated seriously. You couldn't keep it in any longer and started crying. All the emotions that you have kept pent up, suddenly came rushing out. You had never had anyone care about you before. You were so happy and overjoyed. You clung to him tightly and cried hard. Then you felt another pair of arms wrap themselves around your back. Then another on your side. You looked up and saw Ace behind you and Sabo on you right.

"We won't let anything like that happen to you again." (Sabo)

"You're not going anywhere. You got that?!" (Ace)

You just nodded because you couldn't speak at the moment. The four of you stayed like that until you all fell asleep due to the events that have happened throughout the day. You slept peacfully that night and the boys wouldn't let you go. They held on to you tightly, just like you were their own.
