The car ride is very silent. So silent, you could hear a pin drop.
We arrive at the skate park after what feels the longest time.
I hop out of the car and join Alex. I start to feel anxious as I know Evan will be here. I wish Alex was not in a pissy mood because it would just reassure me.
"Alex I don't know what I've done but please don't be pissed off with me whilst we're here. I'm feeling a bit anxious"
"Whatever" is his reply.
"What?" I say quietly.
"Alex! Sophia! How are you two" Julie comes and shakes our hands.
"We're good thank you, how are you?" I smile at her.
"Oh I am amazing. Oh look who it is, the birthday boy" Julie replies
The boy comes and stands next to Julie and stares at me and Alex. His eyes are wide open and he just continues to stare. Me and Alex both look at each other with a weird face and we smile weirdly at the boy.
"Hey what's your name?" Alex asks.
"Phillip"
"Well happy birthday Phillip, we hope you have a good day" i smile at Phillip. I've been smiling too much in the past few minutes.
"Julie if we could gather all the kids around and tell them for plans for today, that would be great" Alex informs Julie.
Julie goes off and and calls all the kids to get together.
"So Phillip, how old are you today?" Alex asks
"Fourteen"
"Ahh soon you'll be able to start dating chicks eh" Alex laughs
"Alex!" I hiss
"No it's cool and I'm already dating a few girls" Phillip replies. I look at Phillip in shock and then at Alex
"Nice!" Alex encourages Phillip by giving him a fist bump.
"Oh by the way", Phillip motions Alex to come closer. Alex bends over so he can hear Phillip, "she's hot, you got real lucky" he whispers to Alex. Well, I've gathered that Phillip cannot whisper and he just made a huge assumption.
Alex chuckles.
"Guys! I've gathered all the children around" Julie tells us and we walk towards the children. I was expecting some sort of comment to say in response to What Phillip said from Alex but he says nothing.
"Hey kids. If you could just listen up, We want to introduce ourselves. I'm Sophia and this Alex and right now, we will be going through the schedule for today" I introduce ourselves.
"So for today, I'm sure you are all aware that you're going to be skating today. So in about 5 mins after this small meeting, I will be showing you guys how to skateboard safely and tell precautions you need to take. After that we're just going to skateboard for a while and then we will have a competition. It will be in groups and then it will lead to the last man standing. Who is up for that?" Alex asks
The young teenagers whoop excitedly. We allow the children to walk off and I stand with Alex, as per usual.
"Alex, are you okay?" I ask him.
"Duh. Why would there be anything wrong with me?" He replies bitchily.
"It's just that-Oh my God!" I look over Alex's shoulder and I see Evan in the distance. He is looking around and I know exactly who he is looking for.
"What?" Alex asks
"E-Evan" I mumble.
"WHAT? He dare fucking come here?" Alex attempts to walk towards Evan but I grab his hand to prevent him from going. He turns towards me.
"Don't cause a scene, this isn't the right place to do so. Also, it kind of is his brother's birthday so he kinda has to be here" I inform Alex.
"You okay?" He asks me.
"Yep, fine!" I say quickly.
"You lie so much but you still can't lie properly. Just stay near me and he won't come near you, okay?"
"Kay" I reply.
"Now what do we need to do is start teaching them how to ride a skateboard"
"We?!!"
