The Waiting Game

As the darkness approaches
Signalling the end of another day
I sit here patiently waiting,
For something.

The trouble is, I do not know
What that something is
So how will I know when
Or if it arrives?

This doesn't stop me waiting
Night after night
Like a loyal subject
Awaiting the arrival of it's Master.

There is something comforting
In this ritual
Anticipation, is a familiar feeling to me
For where would I be
Without daring to think
That there was more to come?

This takes nothing away
From all that I already love
I am eternally grateful
For the life that I have.

But that doesn't mean I can't dream
Of what might
Should
Could be.

But that doesn't mean I can't dreamOf what mightShouldCould be
