Trey

I walked back to Selena's hospital room wiping away tears. How could Angela accuse me of cheating? WITH SELENA! For the two years that Angela and I were together I have tried my best to be the perfect boyfriend. I know there were times when I fucked up, but I fixed them as soon as I realized my fault. Sigh...I guess some things just weren't meant to be.

"Trey...?" I heard Selena trying to say as I opened the door of her room entering it. "Shh. Don't say anything, I know you're hurting. I'm just happy you're ok." I said smiling down at her showing her my genuine side. Despite all of Selena and I's arguments that we have had in the past, I've always loved her-as a friend. Ever since her and Angela became friends, I've always thought of her as my friend too;deep down inside. The only reason why we didn't get along was because of Angela. In fact, if it wasn't for Angela, then Selena and I would probably be best friends.

A few minutes after I had walked into Selena'a room, I heard the door open. "Can we come in?" James asked peeking through the crack in the door. "Yeah come on. She went back to sleep though." James opened the door wider, just enough for both him and Angela to enter. "Um. Trey?" Angela said after waking in and softly closing the door back. "Save it Angie. I'm done. I tried to be the best boyfriend you've ever had and all you did was take me for granted. And if you don't know how I'll be happy to tell you. AFTER we leave the hospital and we know that Lena is ok."

Just by looking at her, I could tell that Angela was hurt by what I said; and being the person that I am I felt a little guilty. It took all my willpower not to apologize to her and ask her to take me back. I love Angela with all my heart but I just couldn't deal with her antagonizing me all the time. And like my mother always told me..."If you love something, let it go." And that was exactly what I was doing...letting the love of my life go.

About 2 hours later, I woke up to the voice of the doctor talking to Selena. I looked around the room to see if James and Angela were still here and like I expected; they weren't-what a great best friend. "Ok Ms. Carmon, we're going to keep you in here over night just to make sure you're fully recovered and after that you're free." the doctor said patting Selena slightly on the arm. I got up from the chair I was sitting in and walked over to Selena's hospital bed standing next to the doctor. "Oh, hello sir. And you are?" the doctor said to me. "I'm Trey Thomas, Selena's friend." I replied back while shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you Mr. Thomas. I'll be back in about 2 more hours to give you your pain medication ok Ms. Carmon?" "Ok. Thank you Doctor Taylor."

Those were the first words-other than my name- that I've heard Selena say since I've been at the hospital. Her voice was very raspy and I could tell it was hard for her to speak. "Hey Lena. You don't have reply back to me but I just want you to know that once you leave here you can come over to my house. My mom and dad already agreed and they're fixing up the guest room for you. You don't have to deal with your parents hurting you anymore." I felt a tear roll down my cheek and quickly wiped it away. When I looked into Selena's eyes I saw thankfulness in them and new exactly what she wanted to say without her having to say it. I bent down and whispered "You're welcome." into her ear then quickly left the room so that she wouldn't see me cry.

I hated crying. And I hated it even more when people were around to see me do it. But I just couldn't get over the fact that her parents would beat her so bad to the point where she ended up in the hospital...and not care to even be here with her. That's just sad...and I feel for her; I really do.
