Trey
After Angela and I left Cici's I took her to the park. I know that the anxiety of not knowing why I'm taking her to all these weird non-romantic places were killing her. And I also know that even though we both agreed that we were just best friends again, she was expecting me to bring her somewhere that was at least semi-romantic. Before I even asked Angela if she wanted to hang out today I already had what I wanted to do with her planned. Starting with lunch at Cici's, then to Sprout Park-the park that we used to love to go to as kids, an early dinner around maybe 6:00 or so at Cheddars, and then at bout 7:30 I'd take her to the top of the hill in Hollywood Park-it was giving that name for a reason- to watch the sunset together. The first two places were to remind us of how things used to be when we were kids and the last two places were to show us what we could be in the future.
We reached the park at around 2:45,2:50pm and as soon as we got there, I could tell that coming back to this park made Angela happy. Just because we were 16 now didn't mean we couldn't act like big kids. We raced each other, took turns on the slides, and spent the rest of the time on the swings reminiscing about old times there. "Aye Trey, you remember when we were little and we used to play in the sprinklers over there and I'd get so mad went you got my hair wet?" Angela asked me laughing. "Hahaha, yeah. I used to love when I got you mad." I replied. "Why? It wasn't funny." "Yes it was. You should've seen your faces you'd make when I'd get your hair wet. You'd look like somebody had just threw a rock at you and you were about to kill them with a knife." "You make no sense what-so-ever." We laughed together and when I realized it was bout 5:00 I decided it was time to go. "You ready?" I asked getting up from the swing. "Do I have a choice whether I want to be or not?" she asked back. "Not really." I joked helping her up from the swing even though she didn't need it. "Ok then." We walked back to my car with our arms around each others waist. I loved this feeling. "If only we were a couple." I thought.
"6:16, right on time." I said while parking in the Cheddars parking lot. "So I'm guessing you made reservations?" Angela asked in reply to my statement. "Yep" We got out the car and walked to the front door of the restaurant. Being a gentleman, I opened the door letting her go in before me. We walked up to the front register and I told the man that I had reservations for two under the name Trey Thomas. He looked it up quickly then called a waitress to lead us to where we'd be sitting. "Thank you ma'am." both Angela and I said in unison as the waitress showed us our table and gave us menus.
The waitress, whose name was Tina, came bout about 5 minutes later asking us if we were ready to order. Angela said yes while I nodded my head. "I'll take the chicken-fried steak with white gravy and mash potatoes for my side. Oh and a sprite please." Angela told Tina. "And I'll take the bacon burger, with fries and garlic bread for my sides with a Dr. Pepper." Tina wrote down our order and told us she'll be back shortly. "Really? Garlic bread with a hamburger and fries? You're weird." I looked across the table at Angela and replied, "You just noticed?" with my pretty-boy smile. She laughed a little then replied back with a no. Tina came back with our drinks first and then with our food a few minutes after. Angela and I ate our food in bout 30 minutes and spent about 15 more minutes just talking. I looked at my watch noticing that it was almost 7:30. "We need to go. I have one more place to take you before I take you home for the night." I told Angela. She said ok and with that we got up and headed back to my car. "Lets see how much she likes this."
