Megan's eyes snapped open. She was curled in a ball on her bed. She glanced at her clock. It was ten forty-three pm. She hadn't even realised she'd fallen asleep. She sat up, glancing round her room. It was rather small, and slightly untidy, with a pair of shoes loosely lying across the floor, a roll of parchment poking from under the closet, and several fantasy novels lying beside the bedside table. Megan sat up and looked at the papers around her on her bed. She had been reading them when she'd fallen asleep. She flicked her light on and looked at them again. First was an article of the Daily Prophet with a picture of Megan lying unconscious with Dumbledore and Cedric near her. Its headline read:
MEGAN POTTER: THE CHOSEN ONE?
Rumours still continue to fly about the mysterious recent disturbance at the Ministry of Magic, during which He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was sighted once more.
"We're not allowed to talk about it, so don't ask me anything," said an agitated Obliviator, who refused to give his name as he left the Ministry last night.
Nevertheless, high sources within the Ministry have confirmed that the disturbance centred on the fabled Hall of Prophecy.
Though Ministry spokeswizards have hitherto refused even to confirm the existence of such a place, a growing number of the Magical Community believe that the Death Eaters now serving sentences in Azkaban for trespass and attempted theft were, in fact, trying to steal a prophecy. The nature of that prophecy is yet unknown, although speculation is abundant that it is related to Megan Potter, the only person to ever have survived the Killing Curse, and is also known to have been at the Ministry during the break-in (see photo) on the night in question. Some are going so far as to call Potter the "Chosen One", believing that the prophecy names her as the only one who will be capable of ridding the world of the threat that is He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.
The current whereabouts of the prophecy, if it exists, are yet unknown.
The next was also an article, only its headline was different. A lot had changed in the past few months.
SCRIMGEOUR SUCEEDS FUDGE
Most of this front page was covered by the picture of a tall man with long dark hair and a rather square face.
Rufus Scrimgeour, recently head of Auror Office in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement of the Ministry, has taken over Cornelius Fudge's position as Minister for Magic. The appointment was greeted largely with enthusiasm by the wizarding world, though rumours of a rift between Albus Dumbledore, esteemed Headmaster at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the new Minister surfaced hours before he took office.
Scrimgeour's representative admitted that he had met with Dumbledore at once upon taking possession of the top job, but refused to comment on the topics under discussion."
Megan glanced at a third article, on her desk, over which was a picture of a bridge in London that had been destroyed, killing twenty three people.
MINISTRY GUARANTEES STUDENTS' SAFETY
Newly appointed Minister for Magic Rufus Scrigmeour, spoke today of the tough new measures taken by his Ministry to ensure the safety of the students returning to Hogwarts School this coming September.
"For obvious reasons, the Ministry will not disclose the details of its stringent new protective measures." said the Minister, though insider information states that said measures include defensive spells, counter-curses and a small group of Aurors assigned solely to protecting the school.
