"Snape offered to help Malfoy?"

"Yes," Harry told Ron.

They were in the kitchen of the Burrow, pealing sprouts.

"He said he'd promised his mother to protect Malfoy. He mentioned an Unbreakable Vow." Megan added. "But I'm not sure what that is."

She'd meant to ask Harry aboutit on the way back to Gryffindor after the party, but had forgotten. She could tell it was a big deal by Ron's reaction, however, because he audibly gasped at the name.

"You sure? The UnbreakableVow?"

"Yes, that's what he said, anyway. What is it?" Megan asked.

"Well, you can't break anUnbreakable Vow..."

"You know, Ron, somehow, I'd figured that out myself." Megan said, smiling slightly. "So what happens if you do?"

"You die," Ron said. "Fred and George nearly got me to do one when I was five. Dad found us before we went through with it, though. Boy, was he furious. Only time I ever saw him as angry as Mum. Fred swears his bum was never the same afterwards."

"What's this about my godly buttock?" Fred's voice asked as he and George entered the kitchen.

"Aw, look, they're using knives, bless them!" George grinned.

"Yes, and admire, George,"Fred said. "How Megan always keeps her stature and grace, even in the most simple situations!"

"Oh, hush," Megan said, flushing slightly.

"Couldn't give us a hand, could you?" Ron asked. "You'd have these done in seconds."

"Ah, sorry, little bro, not a good idea. It's very healthy to learn to appreciate how Muggles andSquibs get by without magic and how important it is to use it wisely." George said, still grinning widely.

"Oh, you don't believe in that rubbish yourself!" Ron protested. "Mum was always on about you using magic at Grimmauld Place! Go on!"

"Sorry, we have to go to the village."

"But if you help us, we could go too!" Ron insisted.

"Not me," Megan replied."I'm supposed to not wander off while I'm here. I promised Dumbledore."

Ron's expression turned awkward.

"Oh... right."

"You should get going, guys, before Ron sets the sprouts on you," said a teasing voice behind the twins.

Megan looked up. Cedric had arrived the morning after her, Harry and Ron. And while she'd been ina perfectly good mood so far, seeing him still made her feel even better.

"Yeah, you're probably right there, Ced. Later," Fred said, and he and George headed for the door.

"Behave yourselves, won't you?" George added with a wink.

Megan and Cedric laughed. Ron and Harry glanced dejectedly out the window.

"Bet they'd have done it if you'd asked them..." Ron grumbled to Megan as the twins crossed the snowy path. "They'd do anything for you."

"Maybe, but first, they'd do the same for you. And second, I'm with them. It's wrong to just use magic for every little thing."

"Mum does it." Ron grumbled stubbornly.

"She has a lot more to do, though." Cedric reminded.

Then, he turned to Megan with a mischievous smile.

"I haven't said hello properly, yet, have I?"

"No, we've been in here since this morning," Megan smiled, getting to her feet.

He stepped forwards and kissed her. They kept their arms around each other as Megan leaned into his shoulder.

"You going to tell Dumbledore about Snape and Malfoy?" Cedric asked.

He'd been filled in on the recent developments.

"Yes. I don't see how I couldn't." Megan said.

"Pity you didn't hear what he was up to," Ron said.

"How could we have done? He wasn't telling Snape, which was surprising enough in and of itself. We couldn't exactly go up and ask him, could we?"

"Megan, you do realise that this will take some convincing?" Cedric said. "I mean, Arthur, Dumbledore... they'll say he's trying to trick Malfoy into revealing his plan to tell the Order."

"I know, but... and this isHarry's opinion, though I can't help but wonder. Something's odd. No one's that good an actor. And I have to admit he certainly sounded convincing..."

Hermione would have said the same as Cedric, though Megan could only assume so, as she and Harry hadn't had time to tell her about the event. She'd left the party by the time they'd returned, to Cormac's annoyance. Megan had left early with Harry and Ron and had only had time to wish her a HappyChristmas and tell her she had something important to tell her when they met again. Though, she wasn't sure Hermione had heard, becauseLavender and Ron had been giving themselves a very non-verbal goodbye right next to them.
