Cedric came with them to the station. Fred had sent an owl the night before, they had an important customer coming in early that morning and couldn't leave George handle him alone. Hermione had been good at hiding her disappointment with the others, but Megan hadn't been fooled. It was maybe a little petty, but she was glad not to be alone in her pain of being away from the person she loved.
Eventually, they reached King's Cross. It wasn't Hagrid waiting for them this time, but two Aurors Megan had never seen.
"Come on, now, quickly! Megan, you first!"
An Auror strode up to stand beside her, while Cedric took her other side. Megan felt slightly babied (it had been different when Cedric and Arthur had escorted her at the age of thirteen), but said nothing. They crossed the magical barrier and she found herself in front of the scarlet steam engine.
"Feels weird to think I won't be going on it with you," Cedric said as the others came through too.
"I know... I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too. But at least when we're together we'll never get bored of each other," he grinned.
Megan sighed and kissed him.
"Be back in a minute. Mr Weasley? Can I have a word?"
Megan looked up at Harry, who nodded to her.
"Of course."
They moved out of earshot.
"Am I going to find out where you and the others were when we were in Fred and George's shop?"
Megan stared.
"How...?"
"Please, you're talking to the man who raised Fred and George." he smiled.
Megan smiled back sheepishly.
"... Right. Well, the truth is... we were in Knockturn Alley."
"What the devil were you doing down there?"
"Following Draco Malfoy. He didn't have his mother with him and we found it odd..." Harry said.
They told him what had happened at Madam Malkin's and then Borgin and Burkes.
"Guys, I doubt that You-Know-Who would let a sixteen year old..."
"Does anyone really know what he'd do or wouldn't?" Harry asked angrily before sighing. "Sorry. But it's worth looking into, isn't it? If Malfoy had to threaten someone to get something done it has to be dangerous or evil, right?"
"We raided his house when he was arrested and took everything away."
"You might have missed something."
"Harry!" Megan said sharply. "Sorry, Mr Weasley..."
"No, it's true he could have had a very good hiding place somewhere that we missed."
But Megan had a suspicion he was humouring Harry. The whistle blew.
"You better hurry," Mr Weasley said.
"Okay."
They made their way to the others.
"You're coming to us for Christmas, Megan," Mrs Weasley told her.
"Oh, I don't want to be an imposition..."
"Not to worry, dear. We're always happy to have you. We'll see you soon, then. And make sure you look after yourselves and be good."
