As they walked, Megan noticed that the few people they crossed looked as nervous as Mrs Weasley had since they'd arrived. And no one seemed to be out alone. Megan thought that was wise.
"I'll stand guard ou' here, all righ'?"
He probably was saying that also because he was a little big to enter the shop.
"Okay, Hagrid."
So they went in.
"I'm not a child, mother, I'm old enough to do my shopping alone!"
"No, your mother's right, it's dangerous to be out alone these days, and it's nothing to do with being a child..."
"Watch that pin, will you?! And when I want your opinion, I'll tell you!"
Megan saw someone with their back to her. But she knew who it was. With his pale face, white blond hair, and haughty attitude, there was only one person it could be. He looked round at the sound of the door.
"Hm. If you're wondering where the smell is from Mother, a Mudblood just came in." said Draco Malfoy.
Ron instantly meant to pull out his wand but Megan caught his arm and held it down.
"Ron, don't." she said. "He's not worth the trouble."
But he shook her hand off.
"There's no need for language like that, young man," Madam Malkin said to Malfoy, coming out from behind a rack. "And I don't want wands drawn in here either!"
"Yeah, like he'd dare do anything outside school. He wouldn't stand a chance against me, anyhow," Malfoy sneered.
"Alone, maybe not, but keep it up, Malfoy, and you'll have two do deal with!" Harry snarled, raising his own wand.
"Harry, Ron, enough." Cedric said firmly.
"Think of your dads!" Hermione whispered behind them.
"Put those away," Narcissa said sharply, in an icy voice. "And if you attack my son again, I will make sure it's the last thing you ever do!"
"Maybe someone should teach him manners," Megan shot back, staring at Narcissa. "And he gave the first blow by insulting our friend. But just out of curiosity, what would you do? Send a few Death Eaters after us?"
She may not have drawn her wand, but that didn't make her any more patient with any Malfoy.
"Young lady, that is a serious accusation! Please, put those wands away!" Madam Malkin said.
Slowly, the boys lowered their wands.
"I see being Dumbledore's pet has given you a false sense of security, Potter. But he won't always be there to save your skinny neck!"
"Is that a threat?" Cedric asked warningly, but Megan touched his arm.
Then, she looked around.
"It's funny you should say that. I don't see him now, do you?" she asked coolly, and held her arms out. "Why not have a go?"
"Yeah," Harry added. "They might be able to give you and your husband a double cell."
Malfoy made a movement towards them, but stumbled in his long robes. Ron and Harry laughed.
"Don't you dare talk to my mother like that!"
"It's all right. I'm sure she'll be reunited with her father and mother long before you are with yours. Come, let's go elsewhere. They let anyone in here."
