"Carry a notebook with you at all times, because you never know when inspiration will strike. Jot down conversations you have overheard, make short descriptions of places that you visit and even individual words that you come across. This notebook can be your source of inspiration when you're stuck for ideas. A single word or daydream could trigger a whole new story!"

Yea, this I agree with. But I don't use a notebook, I use the notes app on my IPod....

It's true about the daydreams triggering a whole story though. I made up a music video to a song in my head, and now I have a whole story I've started writing.

Although writing down conversations sounds kinda stalkerish.....

To add to this quote, I'd say people watch. Pick a stranger next time you're in public. What's their story? Who are they? This can also help to keep you interested in boring situations, in my experience.

I went from watching a boring assembly to thinking that three flamingo dancers were planning to kill the lead dancer because she was a bitch.

*shrugs*
