Description is an EXTREMELY important part of a story.
...And it's also the part I think I lack in the most.
Description is one of the most essential parts of a story. You have to set the scene with it.
What does the area look like?
What does your character look like?
You have to help the reader with their mental image. The more vivid your descriptions, the madder people will get if your book is turned into a movie with wrong actors. For instance, if it wasn't described differently in the book, would people still be upset that:
-Annabeth's hair was brown
-Harry's eyes weren't green
Stuff like that. Description can help you bring your characters to life and make them memorable, in addition to creating worlds and places that leave your readers begging to go there.
If you're describing food, you want to make your readers crave it.
Does that make sense?
Description is just really REALLY important and you should put a lot of thought into it in your stories.
