Make someone a traitor, kill off a character, have two people who hate each other kiss, and watch your readers minds explode.
It's quite fun to read the comments on your book when everyone is freaking the heck out, let me tell you.
Even if your readers seem like they hate you for whatever twist you've made, they'll like your story better for it in the end because it was more memorable and interesting.
Twists are a great way to boost interest if your story is dragging or lacking interest.
Just, whatever you do, for the sake of all the Destiel shippers who might be reading your book-
