Kyungsoo lightly rubbed his thumb against the triangle that hung on his necklace and smiled to himself. He was beginning to think that Jongin was right about the necklace. With the necklace on, Kyungsoo felt warm and safe, almost as safe as when Jongin was holding him in his arms, but nothing could beat the warmth that filled Kyungsoo's heart when Jongin was hugging him.
"What are you smiling about?" Jongin's voice pulled Kyungsoo out of his thoughts and the warm and fuzzy feeling Kyungsoo had been feeling was replaced with shyness. Kyungsoo let go of the necklace and covered his cheeks, which were set on fire from how much he was blushing. He was surprised that Jongin could still make him blush and shake uncontrollably even after so long of dating.
"It's nothing," Kyungsoo replied, biting his lower lip to keep his smile from growing any larger, which Kyungsoo should've known wasn't going to happen when his lover was staring at him so intensely.
"Oh really?" Jongin laughed at how red Kyungsoo looked. "It doesn't seem like nothing. Why? Were you thinking really erotic thoughts? Were they about me?"
Kyungsoo punched Jongin's shoulder, wincing when his fist started to hurt instead. Kyungsoo swore that his boyfriend was made of steel. "No, I wasn't," Kyungsoo pouted as he rubbed his sore fist. "I was just thinking."
"About...?" Jongin questioned, waiting for his boyfriend to continue the sentence, which Kyungsoo never did, so Jongin just sighed.
Without anything else to say, Kyungsoo looked out the window of the car. It was the day he was going to meet up with Jongin's father, and to say that Kyungsoo was nervous was an understatement. He was shaking from heads to toe, from the tip of his skull down to the very tip of his toenails. His hands were trembling and his hands were getting wet with sweat no matter how many times he tried wiping them on his pants. All that excitement and happiness from earlier dispersed into nothing as anxiety took over.
He didn't know what to say when he met with Jongin's father. Was he really going to pick a fight with a rich CEO? Yes, he was. He didn't change his mind at all. He wasn't worried for himself; he was worried for Jongin. Jongin still didn't know about this, but Kyungsoo knew that by the end of today, or maybe tomorrow at the latest, Jongin would find out, but he was ready for any shouting that was sure to occur. He just hoped that they wouldn't be separated after this.
"Babe? What are you thinking about now?" Jongin asked, stealing a glance at Kyungsoo before focusing his attention back on the road. "You looked like you were frowning, and your hands are all sweaty. Did something happen?"
"No," Kyungsoo contradicted, shaking his head lightly and giving Jongin a small smile to reassure him; a smile that Jongin couldn't see, and Kyungsoo was thankful for that, because he was sure his smile was filled with anxiety and worry instead of reassurance and happiness. He didn't know how to respond. Just today, Kyungsoo thought. Just hide it from him for today. He can't find out now. He can find out after, but definitely not now.
"Is there something you're not telling me?" Jongin wondered, his eyes still glued to the road, but by his voice, Kyungsoo knew he was suspicious.
Oh no, Kyungsoo said inwardly, panic rising in his system as he scrambled around for some kind of excuse. He can't find out. He can't! Kyungsoo gently cleared his throat and tried to get rid of the dryness in his throat. "No. If there was, I promise I would tell you." Kyungsoo bit his lower lip to keep himself from crying. Lying to Jongin was the very last thing he wanted to do, but if Jongin found out what he was about to do today, Jongin was sure to go after Kyungsoo and stop him, but Kyungsoo didn't want that. But it still hurt to lie to Jongin. Jongin trusted him, but here he was, lying to his face. His heart ached with guilt and shame as he thought about how much the guy beside him was going to hate him after this. Jongin was sure to detest him once he found out.
