I woke the next morning to the sound of people talking and the smell of bacon. I sat up and stretched out my arms. I walked through the doorway to the kitchen. As soon as I did all eyes were on me.
"Morning sunshine!" My aunt said to me.
I sat at the table between Olivia and Griffin.
"Sleep well?" Jack asked from across the table.
"Yeah, I slept fine," I lied. I had not slept fine, in fact I had barely slept at all.
"Good because we have to get ready to leave," Trey stated.
"Leave?" I asked.
"Yes, we have to move on soon or they'll find us," Sabrina explained.
"How can they track us down that easily?" I curiously asked.
"We aren't completely sure how it works yet ,but they have this device that is attracted to our power or energy," Jack answered.
"Where will we go?"
"Well, there might be people who will hurt us ,but there are also those who will help us. We have a list of addresses and names of the places we can stay if we have to." Trey told me.
"Although we might be hidden from most of the world, some people know about us. Some of them don't believe we should be hunted or tested like animals," Griffin added.
" Well maybe we should go and get packed." Olivia suggested.
"Yes you need to get going, Claire I laid some clothes out for you go grab you and the others a bag from downstairs. I'll be making you all some food for the road." Lucy ordered.
"I'll go with you and help," Griffin insisted.
"Ok."
We walked through the living and then down the hall where the basement door was. I opened the door and stepped down. Griffin followed close behind me. I hated this basement it always had given me cold chills. It was like something was watching me when I was down there. I reached the bottom and started looking through things to find some suitcases or bags. Griffin started looking across the room as well. I found a pair of suitcases and Griffin found a couple bags.
"I think we're set. We should probably head back up." Griffin stated.
"Before we go can I ask you something?" I questioned.
"Sure, what is it?"
"Why are we not normal? I mean, why are we like this?"
" Claire, I can't really give you a clear answer ,but some people think everybody's born with this weird kinda of energy I guess. Except only some are stronger than others. They can actually use that energy. They say it's like most people our sleeping but we are wide awake. It's why they call us stuff like awoken angels or the awakened."
"I guess that makes sense." I sighed.
I looked at him. He had a look in his eyes like he was sorry he couldn't explain it better. He started to say something ,but that's when I saw something moving behind him. It was a dark shadow. Then I saw that what seemed to be it's face was so blurred out that I couldn't tell what it was. I guess Griffin saw that I was frozen in fear and stopped talking.
"What's wrong Claire?"
I couldn't take my eyes off the creature behind him though. I tried to tell him what I saw but all that came out was some strangled sounds. It started moving closer to us. It was right behind Griffin now. It seemed to be taunting me circling him like it was going to kill him. That's when I realized Griffin definitely couldn't see it. It made its way towards me. It stretched its gruesome looking arm out. I could feel heat coming off from it. It's whole body was burnt to a crisp ,and it was so hot now that it felt like it was actually still on fire. Griffin just looked at me and kept asking what was wrong but I couldn't tell him.
"Claire speak to me what's wrong!?" He shouted.
The dark creature was almost touching me now. It grabbed my shoulder. I felt a sharp
burning pain. It felt like it was melting my skin.  It hurt so bad. My vision started to blur and everything around me disappeared.
