My eyes fluttered open. I was in a room lit only by the light shining through the small window. I could feel the bed was sunken down on the left side indicating that someone was sitting there. I tried to sit up to see who it was but when I did I ached in pain. I fell back onto the bed.
My shoulder was wrapped in a huge white bandage. I sighed not liking the idea of having to lay there. "Claire?" A voice asked.
"Trey?" I asked almost positive I knew it was his voice. He leaned up where I could see him.
"You're awake!"
"How did I get in here?"
"Griffin carried you up here," he explained. "I need to go tell the others you're ok." He got up off the bed and walked towards the door. "Guys she's up!" He yelled at the others.
I wanted to sit up so once again I tried my best to. This time I tried not to move my shoulder and use my other arm. I raised myself up successfully.
"Claire I'm so glad you are ok!" I heard Olivia shrill. She ran up to the bed and hugged me tightly. "Yeah me too," I smiled and hugged her back.
"We are all glad you're ok but we should have already left by now," I looked up to see Sabrina with her arms crossed. "Although I believe I already know what happened to you. Would you like to explain what you saw?" She asked.
"I saw this creature behind Griffin and it attacked me. I passed out and then I saw this man kill my Aunt Kate," I explained. "What was that thing?"
"It was a shadow demon. I have done some research on them before. They can attack people ,and make them remember the death of a loved one. For some reason they can't harm normal people but if they attack us they can burn us."
"How come Griffin couldn't see it when I did?" I wondered out loud.
"Only the targeted victim can see them," Sabrina calmly explained.
"Oh," great yet another thing I have to worry about I thought. "We already packed your stuff. We should have already left by now ,but we knew it would be hard for you to rest on the road," Trey explained calmly. "Griffin is carrying your bags out to the car now. Are you ok to leave now?"
"Yeah I'll be ok. We better go."*Time Skip*
We had just gotten on the road. We had no clue where we were going really. We just got in the car and started driving. Trey drove and Sabrina rode up front with him. Olivia and Jack sat in the middle row of seats. Griffin and I sat in the back together.
The radio was turned on but just enough so you could barely here the song playing. I sat looking at the scenery out the window. I couldn't stop thinking about what I had seen and learned over the past few days.
"Hey you ok?" Griffin asked in concerned tone.
"Uh, yeah I'm fine."
"I promised you and your aunt I would protect you ,and I feel like I've already let you down," he said in a low voice.
"How have you broke your promise?"
"I already let you get hurt. When we were in the basement."
"That wasn't your fault. You couldn't have done anything to help me," I felt awful that he believed that.
"Yeah ,but I should have at least tried. I didn't know what else to do besides try to get you to wake up."
"That's all you could have done."
It was getting dark now and we all were getting tired. Trey pulled the car into an abandoned parking lot. In fear that someone might fall asleep while driving.
We all started getting settled in and I tried to get comfortable but there wasn't much space. I kept moving and couldn't stay still because of the discomfort.
"If you'll stay still you can lay on me just please stop moving," he said almost in a sarcastic tone.
I rolled my eyes and put my head against his body. I closed my eyes and felt myself falling into a deep sleep.~Remember to vote and thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this chapter.~ Love, Emmagirl18💗
