I couldn't think straight this can't be possible.
I've always been this boring normal girl and now I can suddenly communicate with ghosts.
On top of that I just met a group of kids that are weird just like me, and we're all being hunted by people who wanna kill us.
"Are you ok Claire? I know this is a lot to take in," my Aunt asked me.
"I'm fine I just need some fresh air. I'll just step out for a bit."
"Ok, well stay close and remember it's dangerous even here," Lucy warned.
I walked out the front door and stood on the porch for a bit. This must just all be a dream I thought. I'll wake up sooner or later. Yet I knew this was no dream. I finally went back into the house. Lucy was making us all something to eat. It was starting to get late ,so I called my mom and told her I was just going to stay the night.
Everybody decided to stay so we could talk. We ate and sat in the living room. Lucy finally went to bed. We all just sat there till Olivia broke the silence.
"So, I guess we could get to know each other while we're here," she suggested.
"Ok," we all agreed.
Everybody told me stuff about them and how they found out about their powers. "So, we are kinda like superheroes," I asked."No, were not. No one will ever consider us heroes only freaks and weirdos," Griffin replied. "Oh, well I guess I wouldn't want to be one anyway," I said.
"Really, why?" Jack questioned.
" Well, they have so much responsibility on their shoulders. I wouldn't want everyone relying on me like that. I'd be to scared I'd fail," I explained.
"I guess that is true," Trey agreed. We talked some more and then all went to bed. My aunt only had one other bedroom besides her own. We all agreed that we'd sleep in the living room. Which was ok with me. It made me fill safer.
I laid down and closed my eyes, but yet again I couldn't sleep. I got up off the couch after laying there for a good hour. Everyone else seemed to be asleep. I crept into the kitchen for a glass of water. I grabbed a glass and started to fill it with water. Then I heard a gruff voice from behind me.
"Can't sleep," it questioned.
I turned around almost scared I would see a spirit. But was met with a familiar face with sparkling blue-green eyes.
"Griffin, you scared me," I gasped.
"Sorry," he half apologized.
"Did I wake you?"
"No," he replied.
"Oh good," I sighed. Not sure what else to say. I took a seat at the small table in the room. Griffin sat too and looked at me as if he wanted to talk about something. We sat in silence for a moment. My worried thoughts soon consumed my head. I thought about everything happening. I thought about my aunt. I thought about how scared I was. Until finally I broke the silence.
"What are you thinking about," I asked.
"Oh nothing, I just was wondering how your handling all this."
"I'm fine," I lied.
"I get the feeling you're not." He seemed to know I was lying right away. I never had been a great liar but I could usually get away with small lies like this. It caught me off guard , I thought he would just shrug it off and say 'ok'. Just like every body else.
"What makes you think that?"
"Well, I mean this is all a lot to take in and I know how hard it can be."
"Yeah it's a little stressful."
"You're scared aren't you?"
I sat there contemplating whether I would actually tell him that I was terrified or if I would tell yet another lie and say I wasn't.
"Maybe," I half admitted.
"I promise you that you'll be ok, I promise you that we'll protect you," he said to me with seriousness in his voice ,and I believed him.
