Don't focus on the negatives and things You know You cannot change

As You already know, happiness is a subjective, personal feeling of each of us. Therefore, whether we are happy or not depends entirely on us. After all nobody knows what brings us happiness better than us, because those are entirely our own feelings.

The feeling of happiness is partially dependent on our approach to life. If we focus only on the negative things, we will never feel happy, because the positive aspects which could make us happy will be overshadowed by the negative ones. Unfortunately, because of this negative mindset some people don't feel happy, because they seek and write down in their minds only bad events, marginalizing the good ones. As we know, human life is made up of many layers, stages and threads. We must be aware of that because the simultaneous occurrence of positive events on all planes of our life is highly unlikely.

As You can see, we can always find something which will make us unhappy. The question is – is it worth it? Maybe it would be better to accept that it is so and stop focusing on the bad thing – as long as it isn't a real tragedy? Remember – the fact that someone looks happy doesn't mean that every aspect of that person's life is positive, because, as we already know, it's practically impossible. Therefore, instead of being jealous, let's start living that way – let's start living a happy life. So much depends on mindset, and changing into positive mindset isn't as difficult as it seems. All it takes is a good will...

Martyna Wojciechowska is a famous Polish traveller and journalist (incl. the editor-in-chief of 'National Geographic' from 2007 to 2017, and currently the program director of Travel Channel Polska). Martyna is a great example which shows that You can do what You love. She's always followed her heart and treated each obstacle the way it should be treated... as an obstacle! She treated it as a challenge – as something You have to go through in order to reach the goal. I guess You know what I mean. A lot of people treat every obstacle as a tragedy, presuming that this obstacle cannot be overcome and willingly let the goal go without taking any action. It's as if they got offended that something dared to stand in their way.

Martyna has always known that almost every (99%) obstacles can be overcome. All You have to do is think what the problem is and how to solve it. Then You have to realize Your intention by taking up actions which will help You overcome that obstacle. Of course You also have to believe that You can do it and that it's just a matter of time. Without faith we wouldn't be able to earnestly and consistently strive to solve the problem, because our drive would go down very soon. Once, Martyna Wojciechowska has faced a huge obstacle. When she was on a trip to Iceland with her crew, there was a car accident. Her friend died and she suffered a very serious injury – she broke her spine. Fortunately, her spinal cord wasn't broken. The doctors told her that she can forget about any mountain trips. However, Martyna knew that if she gave up, she would lose everything. What does it mean to give up on everything You love in life? That's when life becomes a vegetation and You have to "bury" Yourself alive. You're like a zombie – You walk the world, but You don't know why. As You know, things which make us happy give our lives purpose – they make us want to live. While she was lying in the hospital, Martyna decided to fight with the obstacle. She didn't want to fight only to be able to walk and function quite normally. She wanted to take part in expeditions. Her persistence in fighting with that obstacle was fueled by the belief that she will succeed. That's why she was consistent and a year and a half after that unfortunate accident she reached the summit of Mount Everest!

Now I want You to think – if back then Martyna believed that she would never be able to take part in mountain trips, would she be happy and healthy now? You perfectly know she wouldn't! A negative spiral of events would appear. If she had believed in that, she would have lost her will of life, because she would have lost everything that has been giving her life purpose. She would have focused only on the misfortune that has happened to her. As a result, she wouldn't have had enough motivation to rehabilitate, what would have impinged on her health and deepened her depression. Martyna knew she couldn't allow that to happen.

Remember – as long as You are alive, You can do a lot, so look for the solutions and never give up without fighting – especially if it is concerned with things that are of the utmost importance for You.
