"Hi." So Ra huffed as she reached the counter filled with people dressed in white uniforms. "I'm here for Min Yoongi. I received a call that he's here. I'm his wife."

The nurses gave her the room number and pointed the way before So Ra waddled towards the room.

When she reached the door, So Ra had to breathe in deep a few times to calm her nerves.

She slid the door open slowly to see a man she knew, lying on the bed with wires and tubes all over. She sucked in a painful breath.

"So Ra?"

So Ra turned to her mother in law, whose eyes were swollen and red. "What happened? I got a call from the hospital and—"

"So Ra? You're here."

She turned around towards the door and strode as far as she could to hug Yoongi who had just walked in. "I came here as soon as I could."

"Sorry I had to ask them to call you. My battery died and I had my hands full with dad."

"What happened?" So Ra asked when Yoongi guided her to a chair so she could sit down. She watched Yoongi pulled another chair and sat in front of her, pulling her swollen feet up onto his lap to massage them a little, something he had started doing a few months back.

"Dad relapsed."

"From what?"

"Lung cancer."

No words could describe how heartbroken So Ra felt at that moment. Never once did she ask, never once did she suspect, never once did she even try to find out.

She watched as Mrs. Min stroke her husband's limp hand ever so softly, as if it was a precious China, one that was so beautiful yet so fragile it could break in thousand tiny pieces.

So Ra spoke quietly. "When?"

"Six years ago."

"When we broke up?"

Yoongi nodded. "A little bit before."

"Was that why you distanced yourself from me?"

Yoongi smiled gently. "It wasn't on purpose. I just had too much going on at that time."

"Why didn't you tell me, Yoongi?"

"Like I said, we were young. You were young. You didn't need this on your shoulders too."

Softly sobbing, So Ra put her feet down and stood up, walked closer to Yoongi to cup his cheeks in her hands. "Was this why they needed the money?"

Yoongi nodded again.

Sitting on his lap, So Ra pulled his head close to her chest and she felt his shoulders heaved. Yoongi had probably held everything in for so long and for him to let go of it at that moment was both relieving and heartbreaking.

His sobs were quiet. The room was quiet, except for the beeping sounds of the heart monitor next to his father.

So Ra didn't even have time to process what happened next but in one short minute, everything changed for the worse when the machine stopped its short beeps to a deafening continuous sound.
