“Catch me if you can!”

Jez sped ahead of Peter even though he was trying his best to keep up. She was pretty sure that she would be getting yet another speech from Fury about abusing the use of her powers. They had already gotten four that weeks alone and it was only Friday.

“Slow down a little,” Peter called swinging from building to building. “Flying is easier then swinging!”

Jez stopped for a moment and turned to face Spiderman. She lay in the air and rested her face in her hands as if she was lying on the ground. She began to fly backwards laughing. The tall buildings were packed with people just like the New York City Streets. Jez and Peter loved to walk among other people when they were suited up because people got all flustered and did stupid things.

Sure it sounds like they were wasting their time and abusing their identities but they didn’t have much more to do. Even superheroes needed entertainment. People below were pointing and yelling and waving. Jez waved back. Over the last couple of months she had become a widely known hero in New York. Everyone knew the BlueJay but no one knew her real name.

Jez now wore a blue masquerade mask as part of her suit. This was so that none of Peter’s friends could recognise her and they could have a normal life as teenagers. Jez pretended to be eighteen and went to school with Peter, MJ and Harry. Fury said that she needed to get out of the helicarrier more often and be normal. Jez had jumped at the chance to have normal friends and a normal life but Steve had to be a secret.

Everyone knew Captain America but Jez couldn’t be linked to him because everyone also knew that he and the BlueJay were a couple. Steve wasn’t happy about Jez going to school and he hated that Peter was there too. He knew Peter and Jez were just friends but he still didn’t trust Peter. Jez didn’t understand but his jealousy wasn’t stopping her from being normal.

Peter’s eyes opened wide. Jez thought that it was from being impressed but she was wrong. She felt Spiderman’s webs wrap around her and she was flung behind him. A train flew by at full speed and sent Jezebel’s hair into her face. The web fell from her and she pulled her hair out of her face while hovering beside Peter.

“Thanks Spidey,” Jez said and smiled. They high fived.

Peter was still watching the train carefully. He smirked at Jez.

“Wanna catch a ride BlueJay?” he asked and shot a web at the train. He pulled himself onto the last carriage of the train and sat on the back. Jez sped after him and sat beside him. People from inside the carriage were looking out the windows at them but Jez knew that they couldn’t hear them.

“So,” Peter began. “What base are you and Steve at? Is he good?” Jez pushed him off the train. He flung himself back on easily. They lay down as they went into a tunnel. Peter turned to look at Jez.

“Speaking of relationships why won’t you call MJ back?” Jez asked seriously. “I’m getting calls all day every day from her. She’s worried about you Spidey.”

“I’m just going to assume that you and Steve haven’t gotten very far yet,” Peter laughed not answering Jezebel’s question. “This is our stop.”

Jez jumped off the train and onto the platform. People watched them and took photos. A little girl came up to Jez with a pen and paper.

“Miss BlueJay?” she said getting Jezebel’s attention. Jez looked down at the girl and smiled. She bent down so that they were at the same level. “Can I have an autograph please?”

“Sure sweetie,” Jez said and signed ‘BlueJay’. She handed the girl back her book and pen. Her mom snapped a photo and Jez gave her a hug. Peter was busy himself with some kids bouncing around him.
