The morning light leaked through the curtains of the Brooklyn apartment. Jezebel’s eyes fluttered open and she yawned and smacked her alarm off. The plastic crushed under her fist. At least she had her phone as a backup alarm. She was exhausted from her late night yesterday. After their study session at Harry’s place Jez had gone to visit Steve at S.H.I.E.L.D.

The doctors had informed her that there was no change with Steve but Jez had still stayed for a couple of extra hours just to be sure. The doctors said that they hoped that Steve would start to get better in the next forty eight hours. According to Banner’s studies Steve should have already been showing signs of which way he was going to go. If he didn’t show signs soon they’d be concerned.

After her usual school day routine she hopped down the stairs of the apartment and out the door. She put on a believable smile and tried to push Steve out of her head. Right now she was Jez and not BlueJay. She shrugged her bag further up her back and headed down the block. She didn’t feel like going to school today but she was excited to see if Harry asked Gwen out. If he did then they’d all be dating.

Jez went to cross the road when she spotted a man in one of her favourite boutiques. The assistant the Jez was friendly with was on the floor with her hands behind her head. Jez watched as the man cleared out the cash register. She casually slipped into the alley behind her and ducked behind a bin. She stripped off her normal clothes and pulled on her suit. She opened her backpack and took out her shoes, belt and wristbands.

She left her backpack by the bin and ran back out of the alley pulling on her mask. She knew where the emergency exit was from the many times dragging Steve in to shop with her. The man was just finishing clearing out the till. Jez was stuck to the roof above him. She dropped on top of him and heard his gun going off. She received quite a few punches to painful areas but gave it all back. Eventually she flipped him onto his back.

“You really don’t want to do that again,” Jez said putting her boot on his chest. “Not that you’ll get the chance where you’re going.” The heels of her boots were as sharp as knives and this guy knew that if he moved that he’d be in trouble. She didn’t need any extra precautions in case he attacked. Any sudden movements and he would be dead meat.

Jez twisted her wrists and admired all the new buttons that S.H.I.E.L.D had installed. She had been wanting to try them out but now wasn’t the time. She had to get to school before they closed the doors.

“Where do all of you keep coming from?” the thief asked. Jez found a button with a rope on it and aimed at the man. A rope shot out and tied him up. The shop assistant was already after calling the police so now Jez was clear to go.

Jez hung the man from the chandelier and shrugged casually. She went to leave before answering.

“There will always be someone to stop people like you,” Jez said before strolling out of the store and giving the girl a smile. The door chimed and Jez flew back towards the alley where her bag was. She decided it wouldn’t be smart coming back out as Jez so she took to the roofs to get to school. This way would be faster anyway.

Jez ran as fast as she could but by the time she got to the school the doors were locked. Jez bumped her head off the door a couple of times before sliding onto the floor. She looked around but didn’t see any open windows. She heard the bell go inside the building and her name being called. She looked up to see Peter leaning out a window.

Jez glided up to the window and smiled at Peter who was collecting up his books.

“Thanks Peter,” Jez said following him out of the classroom. “I got caught up.”

“How’s Steve?” he whispered so that no one in the corridors could hear. When Jez didn’t reply he knew. “Harry has been looking around for you.”

“Did he ask Gwen out yet?” Jez asked opening her locker as Peter leaned on the one beside hers.

Peter gave Jez a weird look before shrugging. He hadn’t ever heard Harry even talk of Gwen but he had clearly lied to Jez for a reason . . . or maybe Harry wasn’t telling Peter for a reason.

“Gwen Stacey?” he asked spotting her across the hall. Jez nodded. “I don’t think he has yet.”

“I have training tonight so cover for me?” Jez asked as the bell rang for next class.

“Hey, Jez!” MJ called and skipped over to her. “Remember your promise?” Jez thought for a moment but surprisingly she couldn’t.

“Sorry MJ, I don’t,” she said giving a sorry smile.

“Well I’ll remind you about the audition you promised to come with me to tomorrow,” MJ said. “You have to.” Jez couldn’t remember making that promise. It was one she couldn’t keep being BlueJay. She couldn’t dedicate herself to anything else.

“I guess I can try but I don’t think I’m Broadway material,” Jez lied. It had been her dream to be on Broadway ever since she could dance and sing.

“I could see you on stage,” Harry said joining the group. “We better run because we’re already late. Ready for Geography Jez?”

“Let’s rock,” Jez said grabbing her book and slamming her locker shirt as they all split up.

Ten hours later Jez was finishing up her three hour intense training session. She flung her towel around her neck and headed for the bathroom to change out of the S.H.I.E.L.D tracksuit that she wore for training. On her way to see Steve Jez bumped into a face she had only seen enough times that she could count it on one hand.

“Blue hero,” his rumbling voice called. “You and I must meet with the Green man and the man of metal to speak about the staff.” Jez looked over her shoulder to where she had been heading. Steve would have been excited to have a real new adventure.

“Let’s go,” Jez said as they made their way outside. “But I have to be home by ten. It’s a school night.” Jez didn’t realise how childish that sounded until she had said it. Thor looked at her before holding his hammer high and shooting into the air. Jez followed him shaking herself out.

“Jez I’m glad you came,” Banner said as they entered Stark Tower. Jez raised an eyebrow.

“Do you live here now?” she asked. She thought that since Pepper and Tony were getting married that they’d want privacy.

“Nah,” Bruce said. “Just about an hour every two days. I’m staying in Manhattan currently.”

“You have news on the staff,” Thor boomed cutting the small talk short. “Tell me of it.”

“Well,” Bruce started. “It is in the same location in Ireland that the Huntsman was setting off but right now there’s nothing we can do until we learn more about who’s behind this and what we’re going to need to take them down. We don’t even know what he or she plans on using the staff for. Fury says he’s going to try and plant people on location to learn more.”

“So all we can do is wait?” Jez asked. “I’m getting good at this apparently. Good at it or used to it.”

Hey :) So I know where this is going now so it's not going to be discontinued. Please vote, comment, fan and recommend! If you have any questions feel free to ask or even PM just to talk :D I have a question for you though. Who do you think has the staff? And what do they have against Jez? Oh and do you think Steve is going to live?
